Update on Myles Johnson from Pikiell: "He's getting treated. He won't practice today. Hopefully he'll be okay. Don't know anything more than that until he tries to move on (the ankle).''

1) START Cliff

2) Johnson plays as many minutes thereafter aa a) he can THEN b) is necessary

...would be my guess.

Hope he can go for his and the team’s sake (and for us fans’ s sake).

He and Young have been the most consistent players in terms of in their contribution to our wins all season long. Take away either piece and the challenge, already pretty big for this game, becomes huge.

We cannot out-score Houston without out-rebounding and at least matching their D intensity. We aren’t winning a shootout. Johnson has quietly done an exceptional job of rebounding and disrupting other team’s interior game all season. And we’ve seen what happened when he is out with foul trouble.

If he can’t go, I gotta think Pike will be forced into altering his tactical approach to the game. Would need to do things to protect Cliff from foul trouble so he can be there the whole game to rebound. Maybe play zone, play Harper on the center and CO on a forward, I don’t know. But I do know we’d have to do something different because Cliff is too raw to successfully interchangeably mimic Myle’s contribution.

He had a rough night physically. i like the idea of starting Cliff and anything else to stop Houston.

Can always play zone with Cliff in their to focus on rebounding and avoiding foul trouble

Carino hit the nail on the head.

Very unlikely they send MJ out to preview tomorrow’s game if they don’t think he’s playing in tomorrow’s game

Playing zone often leads to more O rebounds for the opponent.
One of the keys to the game is to limit their second chances.

Not necessarily...you just need to be diligent about finding a body to box out. Plus it keeps our big under the basket for that purpose.
Our challenge is boxing out.
With the zone it also creates transition breaks for us with guards up top

Sounds like he will play. Similar to last game I don't think Houston has a conventional 5 so MJ will need to be able to move around the perimeter to guard a forward. He did a really nice job on Simms in man to man but if the ankle is troublesome we could need Cliff to step up unless we play more zone.

Short of a broken ankle I expect MJ to play maybe not 30+ but 20-24 minutes at least. This tournament can sometimes be a once in career opportunity. Go Myles and Go RU!!!!!!

Don't want him out there. He needs to be under the basket with these guys. And that should help him.

I don’t know if I like the zone idea . From what I read on this board houston is a great rebounding team . We need to box out and everyone get a body on a man. I much rather do that out of our normal man to man
