I believe Myles only took three attempts in the game...... I would have thought that we would have attempted to have him
more active offensively, at least early on, to attempt to soften up the defense, give them more to think about

anyway, at this critical point in the game, Geo missed an outside shot, and Myles got the rebound, pretty much right under the basket.
Instead of just turning around and either slamming it home, or a very short layup, he immediately kicked it back out to Geo

A Myles shot may have been contested, a defender right there...but an aggressive Myles should have been able to score, either the shot itself
or at the line after being fouled.

It seems he did not want to take the risk..... I think he should have

this reminds me of a home game against PSU a few years ago, where we had a furious comeback and had a chance to win at the very end...Myles
pulled down the rebound only to kick it back out.....in that situation there was little time left on the clock....

Myles so bad at FTs that he’s now afraid to shoot/contact under the basket. See end of 1st half where instead of going up strong he shied away and missed 3 put backs leading to Clemson breakaway buzzer beater

That was the play where he rolled his ankle grabbing the rebound, I think. He would not have been able to go up for the put back.

Also, Pike DID try and feed Myles in the post early in the game, but he coughed the ball up twice, so we (rightly) stopped feeding him.

Offense isn’t his thing, to put it mildly. Plus, the last thing we want is for him to get fouled and go to the line.

I am sure Pike tells him to get out of the way on offense in crunch time. Notice how he hides on the baseline when we protect late leads.

I screamed "shoot the Fxxxxing ball!" but maybe that back injury early effected his jumping later in the game or perhaps willingness to do it or his confidence to do it given earlier struggles. Who knows..just hope he's good to go Sunday.

Of course we will never know, but I think he could have just turned around and jammed it, and I will stick with that

..... if he did hurt his ankle just before, yeah, then maybe not...would have to view again.

I think the end of the first half sequence made him too cautious at the end..... had we lost that play would stand out more as a possible reason

Pretty sure he got hobbled on the defensive end in the next (or later) time down the floor, not during the offensive glass sequence that the OP is referring to.

thing is, in order to beat Houston, we probably have to hit on all cylinders..... we cannot have a timid center out there...If we have a size advantage at the five, we have to try to exploit that, we need any and all advantages we may have, in theory

If I was Pike I would be stressing this, assuming Myles is fit to go physically.

a possibility I considered....however, only up two, not the best thing, imo....up four, absolutely

I agree that he should have just gone back up with it for the 4pt lead. However, in the moment, where you need to make a split second decision, I understand if he was thinking about draining clock time, particularly if he didn't think he had a clear path to a bucket.

Is he taught this or is it natural instinct. Would be interested in Pikiell's thoughts

I watched the replay and he was literally no more than a foot from the basket although he was facing the wrong way. Still, when that close you have to quickly take it to the rack. We won so I can laugh at that now but whoo boy.

The ball in his hands anywhere but under the basket is bad for our offense
I really frustrates me that Myles is not more aggressive when he has the ball under the basket. I wonder if that is a product of his poor foul shooting.

Myles will be exposed if he does not at least get 10 points. Other teams will not guard him.

He is really on effective offensively within three feet of the basket, where he can spin and lay up or dunk. Sometimes he backs a player in but is still 5 - 6 feet away and he usually doesn't make those. He needs to back all the way in or kick it out if the double comes.

Myles is an interesting guy on offense

One of his weakness is that he is sloppy in ball security with the ball on the post. He would also be better served actually making his move quicker SOMETIMES when he gets the ball with the back to the basket .....as he always gathers and allows the defense to recover

I believe he kicks it back out in those situations so that it doesnt come down to him attempting two free throws
