Did you see how he spent his senior year at UNLV? I've never seen a player do this in college:

"As a redshirt senior, he played fullback as well as on defense and special teams and also started three games at quarterback. When moving to defense and special teams Stanton said he wanted to model his play after his childhood idol Matt Powell of Hastings College. Stanton finished the season with 724 passing yards with four touchdown passes and two interceptions while also rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns and recorded nine tackles on defense and blocked a punt and returned one punt for 19 yards on special teams."

My most significant (only?) memory of Johnny Stanton being a Husker was him being the first person to greet and welcome Mike Riley when he arrived in Lincoln. Riley had recruited him at OSU.

Have you seen pictures of the kid? He is ripped. He said that he simply loves football. His play might cost Janovich his job. Can't imagine they want two fullbacks.

Pretty awesome that maybe the 2 best fullbacks in the NFL are from Nebraska and 1 was a QB

How many fullbacks are in the NFL? What does it say about the fullbacks in the NFL if Stanton, who scored one touchdown, is now considered one of the two best?

When's the last time a former Husker QB scored a TD in the NFL?

The Juicesix guy, or whatever his name is, is damn solid for San Fran.

Hard combo in which you need to be able to stone LBs DEs and DTs in pass pro and then be depended upon to catch short passes in the passing game while blocking for the dude behind you and getting zero glory. A very rare talent. You basically have to be 6'2" 250 lbs, run a 4.6 forty or better, and wear a neck roll full time.

Bruce Mathison rushed for a TD for Buffalo in 1985. I'm guessing that's the last one, but I don't know.
Was thinking Lord or Frost, but you are likely correct.

Between Mathison and those guys, nobody even got a tryout in the NFL other than Crouch.

Nearly 40 years. RollingLaugh

johnny staton, among other qb's that come and gone thru NU is a full case testament to the need for a jv team again. where they can develop their skills, so when a martinez does have his left ankle hurt leaving him stationary.
seamlessly you plug in a staton....who has been training and not getting his legs weakened by the womens.

none of this is rocket science, and I tried to defend the ncaa against the sec/espn/disney onslaught....but they have made it almost impossible with the removal of the jv teams.

We never knew what we had.
He is a great young man. An excellent student who spent one of his summers at NU shadowing surgeons. I was fortunate enough to know him, as his very good friend and teammate was the son of a good friend of mine. Stanton loved Lincoln and keeps in close touch with people there. He has visited numerous times. When he was at NU, women absolutely fawned over him, but he stayed true to his gal back in California. His parents are great people too. It's great to see Johnny have success in the NFL.

Hopefully he didn't stay true to her. Hopefully he checked things out.

I don't think he's one of the two best. The Niners have the best one by quite a bit and there are other guys better than Stanton.
