Why wouldn’t they? Serious question… What makes someone think they would fall apart? They are hiring one of the best coaches in America to replace one of the best coaches in America. This isn’t a buddy hire… DBK had their school in the National championship game. We’ll be ok.

It is called jumping to conclusions and not doing any research.

Look at the football team, how they fell apart after Tom Osborne retired.

Major difference of experience on who is the replacement. Not difficult to understand

That explains Larson leaving, she knew she wasn’t going to get the head coaching job
Are you sure of that? Or did she realize the chance to keep playing pro ball is what she wanted to focus on and knows that she can come back to coaching down the road when playing days are over. Extremely hard to pursue both.

My first thoughts were oh crap. But then I see who the replacement was. The person we all expected to take over after Cook retired.

Thanks for everything, Coach Cook!

Hopefully Cook has encouraged her to stay.
I don't get why she'd need to be encouraged to stay? Coach is retiring, not moving on to another program. Plus Dani just took Louisville to the NC game. I suppose anything is possible nowadays though.

DBK returning to NU had to be the worst kept secret. Virtually everybody knew it was just a matter of when and I’m not even a big volleyball fan.

Louisville is also an elite program. They are probably more concerned about losing talent to us than we should be about losing players to other schools. But of course some movement is expected as part of “pro college sports.”

I am well aware of Louisville’s status in the volleyball world.

Which is precisely why I clearly stated this wasn’t a buddy hire, but hiring one of the best head coaches in America. Proven.

Clear and huge difference between football and volleyball situations.

OK. But then I don’t know why you believe her job #1 is to hang onto as may of Cook’s players and recruits as possible. I think her job #1 is keeping the program at an elite level and that may well mean she will want some of her great players to follow her, which may mean some turnover of the current NU roster.
Not sure her players at Louisville are better… we beat them in 4 at their place earlier in the year. It could happen, but I don’t think you throw the baby out with the bath water by jettisoning current players for Louisville players, especially when their best player is out of eligibility now.

You are too quick. I deleted the post. No need to argue about what the new coach should or will do. She has a great program and so does Cook. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she wants a few players/recruits to come with her and that might affect some of the current NU roster.

I think she only brings her Louisville players if/when any current Nebraska players leave.

It will open up the transfer portal for NU and ripple effect for teams losing a coach

I would like to give Larson more credit than thinking she left not getting the head coach job. She has been pushing her responsibilities to the extreme and probably has a better fit to a coaching path on the pro or international scene than college. She is pretty unparalleled there. Larson was quite gracious lending her name to the Nebraska profile the past couple of seasons for a position that was not high on the list.

As for players leaving or staying, it would be remarkable if no changes happened but we can certainly hope they are minimal. I know Cook has been pretty zeroed in on the ladies playing for their relationships with each other more than wins or accolades and maybe he was planning for this a little bit with that.

Busboom can hopefully manage the level of success she achieved at UL at Nebraska. Final four appearances 2 out of 3 seasons sounds somewhat acceptable. I hope that the crowd can find a way to insert a BUS-BOOM chant into the atmosphere at the Bob next season.
