We know Alex can shoot, but if we are bringing in Baker so he can give us another outside shooter, then what does that say about the shooting ability of Cam, RJ, and Tre?

Cam RJ and Tre are all capable three-point shooters. They are all more comfortable shooting off the dribble though. Think Jayson Tatum. Makes sense because these guys have probably always been the best player on their respective teams, and always have had the ball in their hands.

Alex and Joey aren't gonna scare anyone off the bounce, but they can obviously stand at the three point line and make the three at a high percentage, think Andre Dawkins/ Ryan Kelly.

We needed another SPOT-UP shooter, yes, and looks like we got that, even though I'm reading a redshirt is most likely coming.

I liked when Baker committed .. I saw him as a multi year player, but still a guy by the time he is a Junior could be real good!

Baker can get by you off the bounce as can Alex O'Connell. They are not strictly spot-up shooters. AOC is very athletic and Joey B is athletic enough and strong enough to absorb some contact.

I hope he is our 8th man, and that Duke goes 8 or 9 deep for a change. Jack White deserves some PT off the bench too. Vrank is capable of giving minutes. While not as all as Zoubs, he has more skill.

Starters:
Tre
Cam
RJ
Zion
Marques
---------
Bench:
6. AOC
7. Javin
8/9 tie ... Joey B and Jack White
Slight edge to Jack because of his rebounding and physical toughness.

Probably a super smart move by Baker even if he redshirts... He will be ready and well adjusted for 2019. Just a matter if a) he is ready to play and b) if Coach K uses his bench for a change

I've watched this kid some, he hits that fake then side step 3 like Grayson loved so much. He's real nice at staying concentrated and still hitting a contested 3 as well. This is a K kinda guy and will be around a while too. Happy.

Just to confirm your point about not looking to being one and done. Anything can happen obviously

Now That is interesting!

Looks like a smart kid with his head on his shoulders as far as getting better. Looking forward to seeing him for a couple of years.

I don't see a downside to this, barring multiple transfers which seems unlikely. We need shooters, and even if he redshirts Baker will be battle tested the next year and ready to be a major factor. My guess is he plays this year, but Jack White sees the court as well. They fill different niches. AOC will get his minutes in the frontcourt. We lost a lot of talent, so bringing in more can only help. Also another option if injuries occur.

One NBA scout compared Baker to TJ Leaf. Baker is a bit smaller but Leaf was one heck of a player for UCLA.

I have never seen Baker play in person but I was around TJ a lot during his HS years. if Joey can bring that type of skill set to Duke next year, he will play

It also shows that he is on the NBA radar, and probably will not be a 4 year guy. 2 or 3 would be my guess.

Not expecting him to get big minutes next season. I'm hoping he's making this move moreso to be better prepared for 2019

This means Bolden must be transferring

I think AOC and Jack are gone also. Goldwire's a possibility along with Vrank, Javin and Robinson. This should give our incoming class plenty of P.T. and this time next year we want need to be talking about transfers unless all the walk ons we will need to pick up are upset about their PT this year. Should be interesting. ;)

I think the staff should force some of our scrubs like Goldwire, White, Robinson, and Vrank to transfer. Duke can never win with such low caliber players like them.
Bolden is a decent player, but he's not durable enough. Delaurier is ok but only as a 5-10 minute guy. That's why it's imperative we bring in at least one high quality big and another high end 4 star point guard.
The elites we bring in need help, and what we have on the bench isn't the answer.

Anybody else slightly worried how this team will coexist ? I know they share the ball well, but what offense do you run? Rotation? Lol I’m stressed and I’m not even K!. Reminds me of a NBA team with stars and not the Celtics if you understand that. Besides the coach ;). (Tatum is great) Combine that with being extremely young . K sure does have his hands full! It’s a good thing though, and being the goat I’m sure he’ll figure it out. I gotta stop thinking so much. lmao. so spoiled and still worried!! Terrible.... that has nothing to do with Baker.....on to that....man we’re even younger now! Lmao I see the big picture though and understand the reclassify . Glad to have him. ....Vernon? Lol

So it reminds you of the Golden State Warriors? Yeah...I think we will be alright.

Wait until we get another 5-star late-commit/reclassification this summer, I can't wait for the "talent coexisting" argument to ensue.....

You’re not getting it.... I have confidence ...I know we’ll be alright and fun to watch.... it’s not an argument or prediction or whatever you think. It’s just a legitimate concern . I’m in no way saying we won’t .i got anxiety ok lol. High expectations don’t help it. Like it’s pressure on me or something .Were gonna be expected to win it all , and what happens if we don’t lol. I hate that. All I said is nothing but stress never mind.i said I got confidence and concerns lmao. Gotta pull it together im nervous in May....

I understand sarcasm but do you two knuckleheads really think there are folks at this board who believe this?

No more than the sarcastic post that Sky posted saying half the bench would be transferring opening up pt for incoming freshmen. Timo, do you not like my reply???

Reply of the year!

In all seriousness, a lot of the local media here in Winston-Salem is mentioning red shirting. I think that when he gets on campus, if he can get eligible for that summer trip to Canada, he'll make some decisions. If he can seriously help this year, he'll play. If it looks like he'll be in line for spot minutes, he'll RS. I think the RS is by far the most likely outcome, but it is an unknown.
.
A lot depends on his body. If he's grown to a legit 6-8, he might play more this year if he can handle some legit big man duties. If he's more of a wing, there is no reason for him to burn a year this year.

1-Sky did a post dripping with sarcasm.
2-So did I
3-Show came back at me with his post.
4-You called his post reply of year!
5-I replied to Show about the sarcasm and asked if you liked my reply.

Does that help?

Wow. Holy two year olds BATMAN. Hey Mac, we have custom signatures on this board, you can just print one up that says hart2chesson likes this and he can just quit posting here. There's a difference in sarcasm and stupidity, you guys need to chase that down.
