Said he has had no contact with them

and that he was focused on MSU.

PF asked if you were contacted, what would you do then.?

JM said he would deal with that situation if and when it developed.

Says he and his family like MSU/ Vegas. etc.

Our situation with JoMo is really turning into a humpty dumpty type scenario. I'm starting to wonder how this can all be put back together again.

He basically said what most coaches would say. Leave the door open. If he goes 4-8 and Rutgers offered he would be nuts not to seriously consider it. At max he would have one year here to turn it around. Whereas Rutgers would be a way to get a 2nd chance before getting fired by State.

If we lose to Arkansas those Rutgers rumors will be flaming hot.

If this is really happening didn't Joe's agent have to somehow initiate things. I mean who in the world just up and contacts a coach in the second year of his contract about making at best a lateral move.

An agent isn’t doing his job unless he’s always looking for you a better job that pays more money.

I didn't see Moorhead's interview, but if he's denying that there's been contact regarding the job, I doubt that's true.

It's not even close to a lateral move, but his representation is, I'm sure, looking for a soft landing spot for him, which is their job. The writing is pretty much on the wall here and pretty much everyone knows it.

Best scenario would be if he could magically take some coaching pills and get our program headed in the right direction and stay. I feel like if we continue to flounder and he stays we are in a bad way or if he leaves or is let go we are in a bad way. If he leaves our QB situation is going to be a mess because we could easily lose Schrader who is our future at the position at the moment with pretty much nothing else to go with him next year.

Well no doubt but isn't it a little unethical to be doing that in the second year of a 5 year deal you just made ? Is this going to be Mullen II where we have to go through this every year til he's gone ?

If you read some news articles out of Rutgers you will see that they are saying they are gonna be very competitive with pay on the B1G scale for the next coach. Rutgers has some big 10 money now. Big 10 average head coach salary is 4.25 million. Average. They are going to be very competitive. Joe makes 3.125 I think I read with a small increase next year to like 3.25 so if they offer him a million a year more it would be hard to say no. Rutgers is a serious mess tho but I doubt they would have fans screaming for his job if he went 4 and 8 either. Plus he would be going back home. Spin it how you want but it sounds like a win for Joe to me.

I'm sure Joe's agent was on the phone as soon as it was made known Ash was fired. Joe's very familiar with Rutgers. It is no coincidence his name came up like a neon sign.

Maybe Gestapo info but the guys on ESPNU Radio Sirius 84 said Joe is Rutgers top candidate now. Said it would essentially be a lateral move, lower end SEC program to lower end B1G program. Said he would have an easier time building a winner at Rutgers because it is hard to recruit to MSU and he has a recruiting footprint up there and it is a bigger media market because NewYork doesn’t have any major Football programs.

The only time Rutgers was considered "good" Shiano was the coach. No one has built "a winner" at Rutgers. Schiano got them out of the cellar for a while. He does have a recruiting footprint in Big10 country.

He's gone. Bet Shrader will think twice about heading to New Jersey, especially since he likely will have to sit out a year. But he does have a redshirt year I suppose.

Keytaon Thompson, you're up after all. We got you for 2 more years now.

No, this is the way everyone on planet Earth operates. You always have feelers out for a better job, and you only tell your current boss when you have the other job secured.

Shrader has that locker room. I doubt he leaves. But like you said if he does we still have Key.

Unethical when 90 % of the people on this board are screaming for him to be fired this year ??? Also Rutgers was 11-2 in 2006the 8-8, 8-5, 9-4, 4-8, 9-4 and then 9-4 again in 2012. Never been a winning program ? Anyways....Schiano resigned as DC for Patriots to spend time with family so he isn't interested. Joe coached at Fordham and won big. That's in New York which is next door basically. I'm sure they already knew who Joe was. At least they should know if they are an AD or anyone associated with football. And yeah....no doubt Hud has put plenty of players in the league

Unethical?

Unethical would be if we were playing them next week and they needed an additional win to become bowl eligible and Joe decided to tank our team so they could win and then immediately jump over.

There''s nothing unethical about entertaining other job opportunities, so long as you are still performing the duties your current job.

Yeah Rutgers didn't pull his name out of hat.

I just want to know WHY Rutgers is interested in Joe...provided this is all true. I mean, it's not like someone who represents Rutgers has been watching State football and thinking, "That damn Joe Moorhead is really lighting up things in the SEC West."

My point was his pursuing other job opportunities not his entertaining unsolicited offers and if you think Joe is "performing" I have nothing to say that would help you.

If he's leaving because of the consensus (or lack thereof) on SPS then everyone here deserves a big ole thumbs up ! but for some reason I kinda doubt that's the case LOL

Of course that's not why he is leaving I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy of our fan base mr baseball. It's great to run him off in year two but wait....if he wants to walk away from us its unethical. Dammit...he has a contract...lol. Yeah....with a 2 million dollar buy out.

no but given how people in the northeast view Mississippi....I'm sure they are saying he is too intellectual for those hayseeds....
