Credit where credit is due. In the 59 years that I have been going to games and supporting our University, I have NEVER seen any one person unite our supporters like Joe has. For once it appears that every single one of us is on the same page.

Hell, there are still some on here trying to convince themselves that very little of this is Joe’s fault

Even there it seems like 90% against / 10% for, which is about as united as it gets.

Maybe it's recency bias but, I don't even remember the end of the Croom era being this one sided.

Until 45-0 happened, it was still pretty split. Then it became obvious to everyone after Ole Miss had more points than we had yards of offense.

I have not been on Genes Page in several years. I don’t like for information to be sugar coated but I guess that I should not be too surprised. Everyone that I have talked too around town just wants this nightmare to be over and quickly. I only know one Genes Pager and I have not seen him lately.

You say that now

But watch us eek out a 5th win (yes, we are losing this weekend) against a thin OM team. You will hear the message of “oh well, he’s a good guy and. deserves a 3rd year” with a quickness.

Unfortunately Moorhead is right up their alley. Middle aged pleasant man who never hurt anyone. He talks a good game. He doesn't do or say things that are embarrassing--arguably wrong but he's not a hot head and he's well spoken. He's won just enough games to not make this an Ellis Johnson type slam dunk. They can see him as a neighbor they'd like to have. Plenty good for poor folk like us.

If MSU beats Arkansas, ACU, and OM- its a 6-6 season with a bowl game. A coach at MSU doesnt get fired for going .500 and making a bowl game. God firbid the bowl game is won too.
The scenario above will put a lot of people around here on edge- and some over the edge.

Odds are that we lose to Arkansas or OM though. One of them will have a good offensive day and we just wont have the ability to keep scoring at a high enough pace. Hell, maybe we lose to both Arkansas and OM.

But really- our last 2 conference opponents are currently a couple of the worst teams in the league. Its not beyond possiblity that we win the last 3 and go bowling. Arkansas and OM fans are typing that there is a good chance their team loses to MSU- it just shows how much of a cripple fioght the last couple of conference games could be.

I was too young for the original Genespage sunshine and roses-era during Jackie's last few years, but was this what it was like?

The board is damn near unbearable. I hate it for Robbie and Paul, but I'm going to cancel my membership before it renews in early December. My obsession for recruiting has slowly declined each passing year after the CJ Johnson season anyway.

Hell, I was even willing to entertain the idea of keeping Rick Ray another season, but it’s hard to watch the program crater like this.

I could tell based solely on the way Joe handled setbacks, this wasn’t the guy. I saw somebody use the word gaslighting to describe Joe’s description of the program when he got here and I think it’s appropriate. If you listened to Joe’s verbiage, you would think he inherited a team that had just come off three straight 3-9 seasons.
