Excellent interview by Dave Revsine on BTN with Justin. He seems to think that October struggles are due to the start of classes. I didn't realize Justin is an Econ major, wonder how many other starting BCS RBs have a difficult major like that? Anyway, Justin is incredibly mature for a true Sophomore and represents NU well on TV!

He is a really good interview.

What are the rules about classes? If the syllabus is available, what is to stop the guys from getting a head start with their tutors in the weeks prior to classes starting? If they had a schedule prior to the start of class where they had a study hall for two hours a day in Sept, could they take a little pressure off Oct. studies?

I remember covering Glenbard North's game at Loyola in 2012 and in talking with some folks on the sideline, they called Jackson "a bit of a nerd". They said he walked around school in his glasses and was an extremely dedicated student. Thought at the time he was a great candidate for Northwestern and hear he is. By the way, he played both ways on that team (cornerback on defense) and as I remember it, he wound up with 43 carries and 240 yards in a Glenbard win that advanced them to the state finals..

Would think the start of classes has more to do w/ the amount of time players can dedicate to the film room.

Think it was the Duke game where several players were on the coaching staff for putting out the wrong alignment on D.

Film study can make a huge difference (remember the Badgers picking up on the tendencies of the NU O-line a couple years back based on film study?).

Sometimes I'm almost embarrassed at how well put together our student-athletes are compared to me, a 29 year old adult.

The way he sighed when asked about the difficulties of balancing academics with football. Without saying a word, he showed that he truly cares about his classes and his grades.

Hopefully, they will be able to get him down to under 25 carries per game average. We will definitely need him as the season wears on.
