So...we were the team of the 80s when we won exactly 4 more games over a 10-year period, and no national titles vs 3 for Miami, including a loss to them. Sorry, but you're putting entirely too much weight on our record in the 80s vs national championships.
Nebraska - 103-20, 0 NCs
Miami - 99-20, 3 NCs
And Florida State is the Team of the 90s because they won 1 more game over the decade vs us, with 1 fewer national title? Again, I would be much more likely to agree that Florida State was the Team of the 90s than us being the Team of the 80s, because they actually had 2 national titles and beat us repeatedly in the 90s, even though we won 3 national titles.

Miami Fl in the eighties had the luxury of playing bowl games on their home field and won 2 of their 3 National titltes including our failed 2 point conversion and they beat Nebraska and Oklahoma in the other 2 Orange Bowl games.
