I barely remember Master. I was around 10 when he was at UK.

I remember thinking he was this superstar level player when he played, and finding out later that he was just an average college player. It’s funny how you see things as a kid. I was the same way with Leroy Bird. I remember how loud the crowd seemed to get when he came in and thinking, “wow, he must be really good.” Didn’t they call him “Baby Magic” or something. But I digress.
Master was a great shot but came to UK with unfair comparisons to Kyle Macy. Two totally different types of players and the only common factor was that both great outside shooters. Would love to have seen Master play with the three point shot as in today's game.

Jim Master may have been the first ever dunk I saw in person as a kid at his b-ball camp. It was pretty basic by today’s standards but as a young kid it was a highlight of camp.

IMHO when I was 16 in 1983 Master hit, what is to this day, the most thrilling shot by a UK player.

It was his 12 footer v. U of L at the buzzer to send the Dream Game into OT.

Although Kentucky would lose in OT it was the shot that I remember as the most thrilling.
I was a small child when he played, but he was always my favorite back then even though I don't remember the games that well. Back then I was just getting old enough to understand the game and really be interested.

Yep, that 83 shot by Master and the 05 shot by Sparks are by far the two biggest .."would be greatest shots if only overtime had gone differently" shots in UK history.

How ‘bout Epp’s 3 pointer to force overtime in ‘97 against Zona?

I went to his camp a few years in a row. Centre College, right?
