"Great" might be a stretch, but he was a solid DB. Very good open field tackler and a decent cover guy. In those days the secondary was not the high recruiting priority that it is today, but NU developed some good DBs.

Remember him on the earlier Osborne teams, like you said he was solid and back in them days a lot of times DB’s were players that didn’t have the speed of running backs but were very good tacklers..

His son Jamie was better player at Nebraska..

I believe(and I could be wrong) he either caused Billy Sims last fumble in the 78 game or recovered it...

probably not, our coach wouldn't even offer him a scholarship and chance to compete for the 2nd or 3rd string position, as he said he wasn't better than what they already have. This, even though Jim Burrow really wanted to and dreamed about playing for Nebraska.

Oh wait, that's Jim and not Joe Burrow. Yeah Jim was real good since he played for Nebraska.
Get lost dip $&it…

Nope. Jeff Hansen jarred the ball loose and Jim Pillen recovered it.

Burrow is best known for a goal-line tackle in '74 Sugar Bowl against Florida, which was a game-saver.

No Jimmy played on the 74 Sugar Bowl team and in 75 they lost to Arizona St in Tempe..
Jimmy was a very solid and intelligent DB. Made an all-Big 8 team as a safety his senior year at UNL. Came to Lincoln out of a JUCO in Mississippi. Was a triple option QB there. An excellent athlete with good speed. Jim Walden recruited him out of the JUCO. The were both Mississippi natives. Walden was a defensive ends coach for Devaney. Immediately moved Jimmy Burrows to safety because David Humm was entrenched as our QB. Jimmy always had a high football IQ. Would see him at some Iowa State football coaches functions in Ames because he was Jim Walden's secondary coach there. Good guy. Then was Frank's DC at Ohio U. for years. Son Joe received plenty of football smarts and good genetics from father Jimmy.

Jimmy was also a grad assistant when Solich was head coach here.

So Jamie and Joe are brothers? The fact that Jamie graduated from NU way back in 2001 which would make him nearly 20 years older has me confused.

Wasn’t Jim pillen the one who caused billy sims last fumble? Your taxing my memory now
If you wait long enough I am sure you will see one of Pillen's political ads where he shows the clip of him recovering it.

Jim Pillen may be the real life Forest Gump, my god he sounds like an idiot.

Wow, so angry at me for no reason you need to take a chill pill bro. I'm not the one who refused to even offer Joe Burrow a scholarship, not even the chance to compete for 2nd or 3rd string saying he's not better than what they currently have. Your venom towards me won't change anything.
Go back to the Iowa or Minnesota board
