Did not realize Ryan Dunleavy is with NY Post now. Congrats to him escaping NJ.com. He kept chopping too, and chopped his way out of hell.

Coincidentally, William Stanbeck, former UCF running back, who trucked Cioffi in 2015, just signed with the Raiders after playing for Montreal in the CFL.
Cioffi ran his *** off to barely get in front of him and off-balanced too... someone's kid sister could have "trucked" anyone in that position. He should have broke-down sooner.. I guess it still counts.

This is an example of a kid who I really didn't think was very good. His first couple of years I thought that he looked lost. But he kept choppin' and made himself into a pro football player.

Agreed. Among a lot of BS player criticism that has been spouted in this venue over time this is among the most bogus. Many players in the same situation wouldn't have made contact at all.
My post was not in any way meant to belittle Cioffi. When I searched Twiiter, that came up. Thought my post was clear that Cioffi deserves congratulations for his perseverance. He's a grinder.
I saw teh video shown above.. I don't remember seeing that angle. It looks more like a proper "trucking".. though clearly Cioffi misjudged the speed of the receiver.. he moved too far forward with his legs and the receiver was ready to hit him before he could bring up the rest of his body and lean into the hit.
Was there another such event that happened earlier that season by someone else? One where Cioffi had to move toward the sideline? I distinctly remember one where one leg was out to the side and straight and the other was bent beneath him at point of impact.. he had zero chance in that one.
Understood. But lot's of folks reacted to that clip in isolation and couldn't see the grinder we came to know and appreciate.
One other interesting fact and NJ connection with Cioffi from his Wiki page:
"Sports Illustrated noted in an April 2017 feature that "...Cioffi and BYU’s Micah Hannemann were the only white corners to start for a BCS school recently. Cioffi had earned his way into that coveted corner spot after a stellar high school career in Springfield, New Jersey and by winning the 2012 state title in the 100 meters with a time of 10.86. Cioffi defeated the favorite in that state title race, Anthony Averett, who is now a cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens."
Kind of ridiculous to question a player' ability if the NFL is willing to pay him. Hard worker earned it.

I don't know what play you mean, but I remember Cioffi getting smoked vs Washington St early in 1st half. Of course it might not have been his fault (you know how blown coverage by one guy can make another guy look bad) but it looked bad on TV
Cioffi has a family connection with mike tice. I believe it was tice that got him a shot with the raiders . But one of the great things about sports is the best players, play. No bs or who your family knows .
I always liked cioffi. He gave rutgers his all and had some nice moments . Hope he gets another shot somewhere.

That's a bummer. He may have had a better shot if he was a corner- they are very thin there right now. Knew his cousins who ran a pizzeria in my town before retiring. They were always very proud of him.
Why? He wants money he’s not worth and the Jets already have a slot corner.
Sorry to hear this. i was hoping he would stay with the Jets but will anyone be surprised if he gets signed by someone else??

Speed and hard work paid off.
He had to play corner because of the robbery arrests and then moved to Safety and played better there. May have been a decent slot received with his speed and quickness but we needed him on D right away as mentioned above. He and Barnwell took their lumps.
Put the Cioffi haters up there with the people who yell at our CBs to "turn around" in coverage. 
Give it a few days, and they will sign him again?
