4 seed Chargers (7-2) draw Jesse Carson (4-5) in 1st round. Carson appears to be a run dominant team throwing very little. Offense looks a bit like wing T and some veer. Crest front 7 will have to be very physical. Hope to find out more about Carson as the week goes along #ChargerPride

Hearing Eli Hall might be out for the season so the kids gotta step it up just like the past 2 games. So is Huskey the back up or is he still working his way back from injury

Real good question about Huskey. Javi is way more explosive on the read option but Huskey greatly improves the passing game. I would like to see Coach Eddings work Huskey in slowly. Give him time to get his timing back. Nice problem to have though.

Having seen both, Green is the better option in my opinion, and I believe is underrated as a passer.

The only people predicting a Crest blowout have never seen Carson play. First round upsets do happen, ask South Point and Pisgah in recent years.
Carson plays a physical brand of football running the ball 95% of the time. Carson RB Dowd is a big boy and runs the ball real hard and their quarterback is very athletic and quick.
Crest has struggled containing mobile QB’s this year.
Charger D has to take this opponent seriously and set the tone early.

SP’s first round loss you are alluding to happened because the starting QB was knocked out in the first quarter. It’s hard to run the Red Bone with an inexperienced QB behind center. Yea I guess that is an excuse. A loss is a loss.

Can't win playing straight up? They gotta play smoke and mirrors, means they're scared. Might work for a few scores but Crest will expose them in the end, or at least they SHOULD expose them

Crest has had the ball for 8 plays. Have right at 200 yards of offense. Carson can’t stop a nose bleed

They got no choice but to turn to tricks. If we go up 14 they can crank the bus.

Carson had the right game plan.

Ate up the clock, limited the potent Crest offense to just 5 possessions. The tricks plays really gave them some confidence early on.

It was good to see Huskey back in the saddle for Crest. I still see Crest losing in the second round because of their lack of depth and youthfulness, but they'll fight hard. Crest also had a bunch of penalties in this 1st round game and those can't happen this late in the year.

Hopefully Crest is healthy next week.
That is the key to Crest finally getting out of the second round. Adams has to carry this team like he's done all season. Did I also hear Crest was without their starting NG? What other starters were absent last night?

Missing their top two defensive lineman explains why Carson had some success moving the ball last night.
I was surprised to see Adams on the sideline though. RB Carter Green and QB Huskey did a great job moving the ball.
Charger D will have their hands full with the more traditional offense of West Rowan.

Was missing LB, NG, DE, backup to DE. Mari was out and NG (Grub Watkins) also sees time on OL. Believe Mari and Grub are both back vs WR. Both were close to playing vs Carson.

And in case anybody in Cleveland County is interested. As you know it takes an act of Congress for any of our local teams to do anything at Gardner Webb. Well guess who was welcomed with open arms to use their field for pregame workouts and warmups. Good for Carson because that is the way it is supposed to be, but it's a shame our teams don't get the same consideration.
