I know it doesn't matter, but just sharing for that don't get on twitter.

I have Stephen Zimmerman & Thon Maker 2 Kentucky now. Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram, Malik Newman, Cheick Diallo all possible

Jerry....

But hey I would take it. Throw in a Newman, and a touch of Brown/Ingram and I'm good. Real good.

I hope we get em all! How crazy would that be? I do hope we at least get two or three more of the above with one of them being a SF.

Awesome.

FWIW, Maker is still a long shot to play in college. But he's worth taking a risk on.

Is Thon Maker both skilled and quick enough to play small forward ala Kevin Durant?

If there is some risk with him playing in college (i dont know the story myself), then there's no way you take a chance on him and pass on someone like Diallo who is an absolute stud. My personal opinion anyway. I'll take the guaranteed money.

If you put much (or any) stock into the CBS crystal ball, a lot of movement today in regards to Zimmerman to UK.

He is more Garnett than Durant.
serge ibaka at best
I don't see it, but still the point stands he's more of a PF than a SF.

I've considered Big Z a lock for UK since I first started following his Mom on Twitter. No way she lets him go anywhere else.

Interesting. 4 analysts all picked UK today. Worth keeping an eye on at least.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Lose your top 7 players and a vacuum is created. Ergo many recruits are refocusing on UK. Going to be another great ride/

maker is highly talented....but everyone who has really seen him have said he is more youtube hype and built up by fans WAY too much. skal and simmons are doing better than him out in portland. to say nothing of the fact that IF he does go to college...it wont be until the 2nd semester AT BEST

It seems to me that the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is ... we can TAKE ALL OF 'EM and let the chips fall. If one or more can't get eligible, I don't see how that hurts any of the others who sign with the 'Cats and can get eligible ! Just means more minutes.

Go 'Cats ! ! !

That's fine. I wasn't saying he was the next Kevin Garnett. Just that his style is more similar to Garnett than Durant. I think he is more fluid than Ibaka. At any rate, while he may be more hype at this point... I would be happy if he brought that hype to UK to develop it.

When you watch year after year for the last SIX Years at Kentucky and Coach Cal we now had 26 players to declare for the NBA Draft. There has been 20 to go in the 1st Round and 6 in the 2nd Round and in Coach Cal 6 years that is an average 4 or 5 declaring for the draft annually. Then it is the Kentucky Wildcats that is always in the Top 5 or 10, Best Head Coach John Calipari, with the Best Fan Base in America, 25,000 screaming fans and more fans at the Away Games, Bes Facilities in College Sports and Basketball, and has been to 4 Final Fours in Cal's 6 years with a Championship and Runner-Up! Then to watch the Press-Conference today and see 7 boys going to the NBA and to see how together and family it is here with Kentucky and Coach Cal. Who wouldn't want to come to Kentucky and be a part of this Excitement each year. I believe with who we have back and right now we don't know about POY but we have Ullis and Lee and we have Briscoe, Labissiere, and Matthews. We still couple of guards and a couple of big men to be really successful next year. We all know Cal wants to go back to playing 7 or 8 players a game like he has always done here and at Memphis. We still need a couple of players in case we have an injury or two next year. I am so excited to see Ullis next year and Lee really needs to work this summer and if POY decides for his last year. That is an awesome 3 players to go along with Hawkins and Willis. Then add Briscoe, Matthews, Labissiere, and then add 3 or 4 and that will be a solid 9 or 10 players. We also know how Cal likes to use these 10 players in tough scrimmages during practices against each other so that would be 9 or 10 strong players. We would be Top 5 and discussion again for Final Four runs.

Since we have Ullis, Lee, and possibly POY back and don't forget Willis & Hawkins(Defensive Specialist) and then Recruiting Class that has Briscoe(best pg in recruiting class), Labissiere(best Center and #3), and Matthews(who will be the big surprise of this recruiting class). Then Coach Cal does what he does BEST and goes out and gets the next best 3 or 4 players. I would love to see Newman & Brown along with Ullis & Briscoe in the backcourt next year. Even though there young this could be the #1 or #2 backcourt in NCAA Basketball next year. Then we have Lee, POY, Matthews inside to start with then add Labissiere and its looking pretty good now. Then Cal adds Zimm and Diallo or another big man to have 2 more big men to go along with Lee, Labissiere, and POY and we are getting back to where we were last year! If Coach Cal can pull it off and get Newman and another guard to go with Ullis, Briscoe, and Matthews and this could be best backcourt next year. This would be looking like another Top 3 team and one that is talked about Final Four Run and Nat. Champ. Run.

The more of them the better, not just because they are on our team, but also because it could mean Kansas, Duke and UNC all have mediocre classes at best... UNC would be considered a disaster class and Kansas not much better. Duke would be just alright.

This recruiting class not only has the ability to fully replenish what we lost, but also really hamper the elite schools for a year or two.

In my opinion Maker needs another year in HS. Very tall and long but super thin and he absolutely hates contact on the inside and his skills on the permiter are just not their to say he is a 3. When I watched him play live he was good in transition but not so good when the game slows down and they packed it in. Need to spread the court for him to shine. He is a talent but he is one of those guys who won't be good for a few years.
Personally I'd pass on a guy like that unless he was going to be staying in college for 3 years. But some nba team will roll the dice with him and draft him as a freshmen.
This is what gets me....we have had guys get drafted and we were all thinking wtf?? Guys like Teague, Orton and Lamb for example. Guys you could just watch for a couple of games and could clearly tell they are not nba worthy just yet. But alas some dumbass teams told them to declare and they would take them in which they did. Don't blame the kids but why would a franchise just throw away money like that?

Returning Poythress is a huge priority, and probably bigger than Zimmerman or Diallo at this point.

I think Newman, Zimmerman, and one more round out the class. Bring back Poythress with those three and UK is more than loaded for next year.

I agree with you 100% that if POY comes back next year then lets get Newman, Zimmerman, and lets say Diallo and we will be set for next year. That gives us Ullis, Lee, POY, Briscoe, Skai, Matthews, Newman, Zimmerman, Diallo, and don't forget Hawkins and Willis. That gives us 11 players and we know Coach Cal has said he wants to go back to 7 or 8 playing instead of platoon for next year. He has even told a couple of the top recruits that when they asked him about the platoon and he has answered back with going with the 7 or 8 players.

I have seen Maker play 3 times in person and that included probably 10 games and skill work at the different events. He is absolutely, positively, no where near Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett, or Serge Ibaka. Thon is a pure center who can handle the ball decently and shoot. Honestly, not his game but his potential skill arc I think will follow the same path as Towns if he goes and plays for a real coach who doesn't let him stand around the perimeter. He is a future center period. He is going to have to learn to love physicality and embrace it. The best thing he could do is come to UK honestly, he is a good to very good player right now against weak competition, he has the ability to be a very good to great player against real competition if he learns how to do it. Going somewhere other than UK or Duke would be disastrous for this kid.

Have you watched the same Maker that I have? this guy is a better athlete than any of those 3 guys. he is not as skilled as those guys but is a better athlete. you say he is a center only? if you have watched him 3 times and think he is a center only i'm glad you are not scouting for my team. did you not see this guy move and handle the ball? Think willy cauley-stein type athlete with more skills. Oh by the way his 6'10'' brother has the same natural born talent that Thon has. they both have the natural talent that you can't teach, you either have it or you don't,and these guys have it.

I like what I've seen of Thon Maker more than any other HS player this year. He's strong for his frame and very quick. If he plays college ball, as long as the rest of the players on his team aren't complete Muppets, his team has to be favored to win the NCAA. I'm usually a rotten evaluator of talent, but that's that I see in Maker.
