I vaguely remember jewels making the same comment a few years ago too when Jerry's name came up here. It's not the kind of comment one should make without personal insight. Why?
I feel bad for Jerry. Having epilepsy is very difficult to live with. He was a very good coach; unfortunately, his health issues became to much.I vaguely remember jewels making the same comment a few years ago too when Jerry's name came up here. I haven't heard other people make similar comments about Jerry Kill, so I'm definitely curious about what personal insight has inspired such vitriol.
Everything I have ever seen has been positive on the guy. Even with his physical problems, it appears he has been consistently sought out by coaches to help their programs.I vaguely remember jewels making the same comment a few years ago too when Jerry's name came up here. Wasn’t there some big sex scandal under his watch at Minnesota where 20 players and some recruits assaulted the same young woman while she was drunk and unable to defend herself?I know a lot of people who've worked with Jerry and in communities with Jerry and they all speak well of Jerry. He's also a hell of a ball coach. I had a mini fantasy we'd jettison JON and bring him in as DC.
Yes.Wasn’t there some big sex scandal under his watch at Minnesota where 20 players and some recruits assaulted the same young woman while she was drunk and unable to defend herself?
What are you talking about? That was Claeys. Heard nothing but good things about him (edit: him meaning Kill)Yes.
That took place in late 2016, over a year after Kill left MN. My recollection on that whole incident as well, and not to downplay how gross and awful a story it was, was that the school didn’t end up getting much criticism for how seriously it took the story. A lot of guys were expelled for that, with several players, including star Antoine Winfield JR, successfully suing the school to have their punishments reversed after the school’s investigation said they weren’t directly involved but punished them anyway. I love to be critical of the gophers, but the scandal portion of it didn’t extend to an institutional cover up or anything like that (though Claeys did handle the PR of it like a clod, which helped expedite his inevitable firing). At any rate, it was all well after Kill was off campus.Wasn’t there some big sex scandal under his watch at Minnesota where 20 players and some recruits assaulted the same young woman while she was drunk and unable to defend herself?
You're right, Claeys followed Kill and it was on his watch that the incident happened, although the climate may have existed in the program prior to Claeys. But that doesn't make Kill a bad person. What are you talking about? That was Claeys. Heard nothing but good things about him (edit: him meaning Kill)
Haven't seen anybody mention it, so I'll remind everyone of our non-con scheduled for 10/28/2023 vs Kill's new team, a week after his old one. We still need to add a third 2023 non-con in addition to Duke (can somebody euthanize that series already for God's sake). No doubt it'll be crap since captivating non-con isn't part of Fitz's shtick. MAC instead of FCS is probably best case scenario.Hired at NMSU.
I mentioned it in another thread, since NMSU is joining CUSA and will no longer be independent. I'm not sure whether NU's scheduled game vs. NMSU will remain on the schedule, since NMSU needs to schedule conference games now.Haven't seen anybody mention it, so I'll remind everyone of our non-con scheduled for 10/28/2023 vs Kill's new team, a week after his old one. I certainly wouldn't mind it coming off the schedule. Unless we improve from 2021, I'd expect a Jerry Kill team in year 2 to be better than what we just saw. The same completely lifeless non-con schedule over and over isn't doing the program any favors. 2019-2026 with Duke being the only P5 opponent, unless something changes, is a joke. I'd think CUSA would try to schedule around non-con buy games already on the books to preserve the money for the team and exposure for the conference. If it's canceled, I guess the flexibility to turn that into the bye might help.I mentioned it in another thread, since NMSU is joining CUSA and will no longer be independent.
