Regular JD is pretty meh and basic, but I do love it on an airplane (the altitude messes with the flavor of stuff and it always makes bourbon have a slight woody, vanilla taste.

Gentleman Jack and Single Barrel are pretty darn tasty, however.

Yeah altitude affects food taste dramatically. Airline food is specifically changed around to deal with that.

Also, as for drinking on a plane, a double will knock you flat, and then when you land, you're totally sober!

I like Knob Creek a lot, but some bourbons I have tried lately that I love are:

1.) Basil Hayden's
2.) Woodford Reserve
3.) Buffalo Trace
4.) McKenna's

All four of those blow Knob Creek and Gentleman Jack out of the water.

Eagle Rare is a fantastic buy. I'd give it a solid B to B+ (its similar to Buffalo Trace and Makers Mark to me) and it only costs like $20 usually.

Never been a huge JD fan, but I've only ever tried plain old JD and it was a long time ago before I really got into bourbon. Makers was my gateway into liking bourbon.

$30 in my experience. To be honest, I’ve never had it, but I work at a liquor store and often hear how good it is.
