As I said in the other thread:
Mt Carmel has won 13 state championships. Of these, two were at the highest level at that time; ten were one level down; and one was two levels down.
We've lost five state championship games: two at the highest level at that time, and three at one level down.
And as I said before every title is legit for you and everyone else. To say otherwise is just, well it’s just not a smart statement.
Newt, do you at least understand the point I'm making about the caliber of competition you face in the regular season and the caliber in the post season ... and why it should be equivalent?

HOWEVER…, the boys sweating their balls off in July don’t care. They deserve the very best they can get and want it.
rather than pontificate about who we think they are, let’s let them be who they are!
if they are CHAMPIONS…. Let’s leave at that and be grateful!

It’s a shame we’ll never know. Tremendous JC team for sure. When the IHSA had 6 classes……. Last time a 3A schools finished number 1? Or, when the IHSA went to 8 classes when was the last time a 4A school finished number 1? Doubt it’s ever happened. Not to take away from the kids, but you have to play the best to be the best.
That said, why wouldn’t the 1A-3A State Champs be under consideration for finishing number 1? I think you know the answer……

CG beat ESL. I think CG might argue that they’re the best in state.
