Have you? Other than Green, who do you expect to shoot higher than low 30s from three? Not sure we'll need any more shooting? Have you looked at our team next year?

I don't want a D-2, D-3 or NAIA player to transfer here. I'm just using your logic. You're saying a player who has demonstrated those same skills should come play here simply because he can shoot. I love having a great shooter as much as the next guy, but I would much prefer just having a good shooter and strong defender vs. great shooter and bad defender.
Nobody, that was my point. Maybe re-read that..Have you? Other than Green, who do you expect to shoot higher than low 30s from three?
I get what you're saying, but the problem here is you have to look at the bigger picture. Yes, the kid can shoot! Yes, he has experience! Yes, he has had some big games! However, where is he at now? Season over, sitting back at IU, already bounced from the NIT. The farthest he's made it in the NCAA tournament is the sweet 16. It's not like he has shown up major in the moments. He's now 3 years in and hasn't really shown much improvement defensively. He had the chance to come here once and passed it up because of the competition he would face. Both of those tell me he is probably not the hardest worker or as dedicated as he should be to improving and always competing against the best. I'm sure he's a nice kid and I can't recall ever hearing anything bad about him in his time at IU. As I've already stated, he can shoot it no doubt. I also think Cal could get more out of him than Crean. I just think there are better transfer options available at this point and we should consider that route first. I personally would love to get Blakeney if he leaves LSU.NO, what I'm saying is IF there is an experienced player from a D-1 school who has been in competitive game situations and played well in high level games who has better than average shooting skills who wants to transfer here do you accept him if you have an open scholarship and the only answer is YES.
What this WHOLE thread seems to have been discussing is a known player from a rival university that RR's and BBN hate who is good offensively and suspect on the defensive side who has prior connections (dad) to UK would he be acceptable as a transfer to UK if UK had an available scholarship of which UK probably will (?).
It is pretty hard to discuss this hypothetical "good shooter/ great defender" scenario transfer/ commit in comparison with JBJ.
Ah my bad. I missed your question mark. I thought you were saying YOU didn't think we'd need shooting. Carry on....Nobody, that was my point. Maybe re-read that..

That's true, however, I wonder how much a player like Blackmon has been influenced, or pressured, by fans to play at IU.Most of the kids are sane, rational human beings who want to do what's best for their future. It's how Malik Monk ended up here. It's the fans who act like psychopaths.
YOU are a much better than Fox for Briscoe. He's a much better shooter than Fox or Briscoe. I'll take him.
A couple of things
1. I must of missed where briscoe is for sure gone even if he is no where projected in the first 2 rounds.
2. Cal won't play 3 guards again next yr like this yr when you have a true sf in Vanderbilt, a guy like Washington who could play the 3/4 and possibly knox. Diallo will play the two and at times may switch to the three given the situation
2. Just because he may graduate in 3 years and transfer doesn't mean he has tunnel vision and only wanting to play at uk like his dad did(see devin Booker)
3. If he were to leave Indiana and come here I would have no problem with it, but it will take a while for it to come to fruition.
If Blackmon does graduate this year, he'll most likely be the best and most highly recruited of any grad transfer guards available.I think there may be other guard transfers that UK may be looking at. A lot can happen when the NCAAT is over.
He has 8 more months too continue to improve as well.I was at the practice yesterday and watched Diallo. Expecting a horrific looking shot. Quite the opposite. He wont be Lamb but he will keep defenses honest. Looks to have improved his shot a lot.
Wouldn't mind JBJ and AB both coming and sitting out to give us experience in 2018-19.
Put those two with three stud Freshmen plus a couple of other returnees and we have a good balanced roster. Something like this:
Starter
G Quickley
G Blackmon
G Blakeney
F Bagley
F Reid
Key Reserves
G Alexander
F Vanderbilt
F Killeya-Jones
F Wynyard
I don't see Langford or Williamson anywhere
He doesn't play defense
Thanks for clearing that up; my sarcasm meter must have been off that day, ha ha. My son and I just returned for Indy, thus the reason why I've not yet responded.I was being sarcastic. Didn't mean any ill will in that post at all. Just joking around with my post. That's all. I apologize to the way I put it. It wasn't my intent to offend.
I completely get your point. I despise IU too and with a passion. I think Bobby Knight is the lowest form of dirt scum on my show and IU fans are the absolute WORST fan base in all of college basketball. I dislike several teams but none more than UL, Puke, and IU. Those are just the worse of the worse. So, I feel ya on that brother.
With that said, I'd gladly take a defected player from any of them IF that player can help us win a title. Especially Blackmon with him being a legacy too. I'd take a defected player any day of the week if that player can help my team win a championship and I think JBJ could just be that player for us. He is exactly what we need on this team next year and in the end, if that happens, then he will ultimately screw his former team by helping us AND by keeping them from winning a championship. Winning a title trumps EVERYTHING for me and I can easily get by all the other stuff if we are cutting down the nets.
That's all I meant with my posts. Probably a poor choice of words to portray that point but it's what I was trying to say anyway. I've said a few times on this board lately that I'd like to see us go to transfer route for a couple backcourt players next year. There are always a couple or more out there after the season that can really be game changers for certain teams. I'd like for us to go that route and find 1 or 2 that can really score and shoot. That would be ideal, IMO. Can you imagine next year's team with a guy like Damien Lee or someone similar? Man!! A guy who could open up the lanes for Diallo, Green, and our other young studs (possibly Knox)! A guy who could shoot 40-45% from 3! Maaaannnn!!!!! Now, that would be an awesome addition.
