We hope he does but the DB room isn’t the problem. We need WRs and LBs.
Yeah they already got who they wanted in the DB's. Maybe an interior Dlineman and that's it for that side of the ball. This portal has to be offense, offense, offense. You simply need to keep what we have off the field for 5 to 10 mins. longer and stop the constant 3 and outs.

Is linebackers really a problem? Both starters returning, Moses Walker and Anthony Johnson (both 4 stars) a year stronger and wiser, ready to step up. Plus Mo Touré is returning and he has played some linebacker in the past.
May be a function of whether or not we continue the two LB and 4 DL set and bring up a safety to help the run defense or go with a three LB set. Using three LBs certainly would require more depth at the position.

More and more teams are opting to go with 5 DB's to deal with the proliferation of RPO and spread offensive schemes. Guessing RU will continue to do the same but need to find a solid hybrid type to replace the sure tackling Izien. I project Loyal for that role.

Wrong . DB is the problem. If Max leaves early the entire starting Secondary is gone. Need CBs and S.
With Walker, Jennings, Anthony Johnson, and Powell back the LBs are fine. DB is a problem

I think Igbinosun could play that role. He's somewhat bigger than Loyal, could add some weight.

Melton, Longerbeam, Igbinosun, Loyal, Mack, Rogers, Amankwaa, and possibly Bellamy seems pretty good to me.

First let’s hope Max stays. This is hugely important. The others you mention don’t come close to replacing Young, Abraham, Christian I., and Braswell in the Secondary.

That is pretty humbling for Rutgers. It's not like they are going to a high profile program.
Not really, RU got the DB they wanted from the portal. They would have taken Bellamy too but he would only come if they took Gould. Greg said no and instead of coming to RU last week for an OV he went to Sewercuse.

Can't blame Greg about Gould due to his multiple injuries and is possibly not a fit at safety as a result but may not be a LB either.

It wasn't an easy situation for Greg as he's known both young men since they were very young.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's this. Both of these two were lower on the board than the northern Illinois kid.

If the kid was a blue chip player at a position of need, this would have hurt. But our secondary is already pretty good. Of course we wanted him but I'm not that broken up about this.

I thought Abraham was coming back too. If he comes back and Melton also stays we are fine at D back.
Abraham is coming back. I like Longerbeam a lot. Loyal and Igbinosun look like they will be very good with more playing experience.

Did not know that Thanks. Abraham has played in 5 seasons since 2018. Maybe got a medical RS ???
The Eric Rogers pick up was good.
However someone said he is ranked above Gould and Bellamy in the Portal. He is not near them…lower down.

Abraham redshirted and 2020 is a free year so he’s only played 3 years.

If that’s true, Gould would have been ok to take. With NIl, GS could have made it work if he wanted .

Neither Gould nor Bellamy are better than Max or Longerbeam or Abraham. However, congratulations to the two Jadens for getting to go to college for free to play football. I trust Greg's judgement in picking up Rogers as well.
