I'm perfectly fine with that. In listening to him, he seems to have aged a bit. He sounds TIRED. So no.

Always knew he’d say no but figured Mitch would have to call him and make him say it. At least it saves the phone call.

Of course he listened. Too polite not to
And it was definitely worth the call
I’m glad he declined..he’d have been a great get but his heart is no longer in it

Like everyone else, I’m not surprised

I’m not sure even even truly listened lol. He basically just said no without even listening.

It would have been amazing tho. But a pipe dream just like Stevens.

Still not convinced Donovan is truly in the mix either. Idk.

Fine with it.

Need a younger coach to build a program and sustain it over 7-10 years. Not a fan of hiring some of these older legends. You gotta get a coach still trying to make a name for themselves.

I do agree that we need someone who has that fire inside and wants to become great. I also would’ve loved to have Jay here, ‘if he still wanted to coach of course’, and see what he could’ve done at a place like Kentucky. Would’ve been a great get 6 years ago for sure. Now on to the guys who are wanting and needing to become the best of the best. This is going to be some exciting times for most Kentucky fans. I can’t wait to love my Kentucky Wildcats again and for them to love Kentucky!

forget Wright

what did the pregame show say about Hurley?
That he’s coaching in the National Championship game is what they said. Don’t even get your hopes up on what you are thinking. Zero percent chance he leaves UConn for UK.

Agree. His first NC should be at Ky as it has been with our other coaches.

Ummm at no time did I think Jay would come to UK…but do you honestly think anyone would announce their true intentions in a setting like the pre-game of the NCAA championship game? No they wouldn’t
Exactly. Of all the top tier candidates, I considered Wright the least likely. But ain’t no way he’s going to say right before the National championship game “yeah, I might consider it.”

It would put all attention on him when it should be on the biggest college basketball game of the year.

I think he was the longest shot. Just doesn't seem to want to coach at this level anymore. He left on his own accord. Wasn't fired, wasn't pushed out, has two titles.

I never thought Jay Wright would think about coaching again. He probably has enough money to enjoy life without dealing with young kids demanding money to play and having to deal with their agents. Can't blame him one bit the way CBB is today.
