I really hate Rutgers fans, you cant wait to be miserable. Here is a fuking idea, lets give it a season before we kill every decision.
Sonic, some of the so called Rutgers fans on this site are pretend Rutgers fans. It has become clearer and clearer the last three or four years. Whether it is football or basketball, they live for anything remotely negative and are in full glory when we are upset or get blown out. Some even have Rutgers references in their screen names. Just keep winning and they will spend more time on the State Penn and Seton Hall sites

All of our starters were 300+, with the exception of Maietti, who is listed at 291. The amount of beef isn't the issue, the quality of the beef is. Either needs more seasoning or we need to get the more prime cuts.
Why are we still arguing over the size of OL on this forum? The measurements are out there but posters choose to ignore them.

Man you guys are thick. I’m would be fine with Pags as the lone holdover. Fraser had about as much coaching responsibilities with the Pats as I did.

come on vkj. Can’t have everything. You know that he prefers to go with guys he knows so the hires shouldn’t be a shock. I’m surprised by the order as I expected Fraser to be #1 and Butler to be #2. Also, I’m somewhat surprised that he’s putting the offense in the hands of the whiz kids, Gleason and Aurich, hires to your liking, when Cignetti and McNulty could easily have been hired. No doubt his Ohio State experience played a role.

You are losing me as 36- pointed out- it is NOT and extra few pounds and the numbers you just provided backs us up...we don’t need to be “bigger” on the OL. We need these guys to be strong, smart, trained well.
And to a previous poster- a Sosa, Haslam, Zuttah, Stephenson, Stapleton OL would be a top 5 OL in the country. I’d go to battle in any conference with that OL. Sosa was injured but all of the others were NFL bound.

agreed. Talent not size is the issue.

If we want to start to retain the best RB's from NJ ... I think you have to follow Wisconsin's lead... they've recruited some of the best RB's to come out of NJ.
Wisconsin's OL weights:
LT 303
LG 305
C 307
RG 325
RT 270

we need to get bigger on the OL to show the best NJ recruits we are all in. Butler or whoever our S&C coach will be needs to realize this. He needs to craft different lifting and diet/eating programs for the guys in the trenches vs the speed skill guys. It's not a one program training plan.
Here are our weights from last year: 305, 305, 291, 309, 324 Avg 307 Wisconsin Avg 303. Your point is off the mark. We don't need to get bigger. It's not just about size, it is about talent and strength. We need to get more talented and stronger.

I just don't want to read about JB getting our 300 lb road graters slimming down to x% body fat and because they didnt make "his" weight, they are suspended for a game. i remember reading Schiano used to talk about anthony davis not making his goal weight when he was 315lbs and there were repercussions. I agree we need to upgrade our talent but we cant do it at the expense of playing guys underweight to B1G Opponents DL

Greg had a first hand look at OSU Offensive Line. I am sure he knows what he needs at that position. if he does not, he must have been sleeping at every OSU practice.

I think the OC hire is evidence that GS has adapted.
He could have easily rehired McN or some other terrible RU legacy pro-style OC he had previously.

The 2-10 Fightin’ Illini in 2006 or the 2-10 2005 version?

Let's examine Illinois in 2016. They went 2-10. RU crushed them 33-0, they did not pass midfield. How many B1G teams have we beaten like that since joining the league? Zero. 3 weeks after losing to RU by that lopsided score, they beat Michigan State in East Lansing. How many times has RU beaten MSU since joining the B1G? Zero. Lost to PSU 26-12 in State College. 30-24 at Camp Randall. 17-10 to Ohio State. So,if your point is that the Illini sucked and that OL would have done terribly in the big bad 2006 B1G, you are sadly mistaken. But it does require some analysis that is probably beyond your scope. It is what it is.

Well maybe people finally see more clearly as our sports teams get better...those suspect individuals are called out often on this board but they kick and stomp and claim they are Rutgers all the way.

Same team beat us the year before. They were also 2-10.

And while not in the B1G a Greg Schiano led team did beat Michigan State. That was one game just like the Illinois games were once a season too. Over a whole season I would have liked to see how a OL put together by him would fare in the B1G. The best part...now we will. :)

Butler is now on board. After reading 4 pages of who knows what, bottom line is there is no real evidence that this is a bad hire. At least there is past evidence of him being her and developing athletes that ended up playing in the NFL. That means they were talented and developed the strength and conditioning for the next level.

also don't want to see players weight affect their performance because being overweight tires them out quickly, then they need to be taken out to rest more than they should.
