That is what you call a dominant performance.
He didn’t quite win two games at once by saving the entire pen for tomorrow while SC’s is blown up, but he came about as close as you can.
Almost 5 full innings(14 batters) with an 0-2 count. Amazing.
John Smoltz, Andy Pettite, and Curt Schilling come to mind after this performance.
What are the better ones, particularly considering the stakes?

The Woodard game wasn't an elimination game and he did give up two doubles.
The Johnson game against State was probably equivalent or higher stakes - an elimination game against a hated rival in the CWS. But he gave up 5 hits (and it was not a complete game). Not sure that is a better pitching performance.

Yes, but you have to combine stakes and performance. I don't think a non-elimination game in Omaha is equivalent to an elimination game in the Supers.
Also, SC was on an absolute offensive heater coming into this game. And De Caro was coming off two shaky starts.
All things considered, I think it is the best UNC pitching performance of my lifetime.
I am so glad that I got to watch Jason's great game. This gives us a great chance for tomorrow.

It's probably been stated but Decaro's performance in a game of that magnitude where your offense cannot get anything going to break away from the other team where Decaro had to always be on his toes....outstanding and masterful outing.
Love it especially after how down everyone was on him after a couple shaky starts. Dude has been our ace all year and pitched like one in the biggest spot

I agree with Calheel, considering the circumstances that it was an elimination game, where he had to go deep in the game to save our pitching for the rubber match, that it was the greatest performance I have seen in my 60+ years of watching Carolina baseball.
Robert Woodard threw a 3H CG SHO against #1 seed Clemson in Omaha in 2006.
No chance at Omaha without this. The Omaha performances were awesome, but you have to get there.
