This is the kid I wanted Cal to go after all along. I feel like he can be ours.

That is strange.Everyone has said he is going to Texas but I don't get what the wait is for.I wish we could have had him but that ship has sailed. If Cal had known what Bolden and his mother were really about I think he would have gone after Allen instead.

With Bolden it was just about drama between UK/Duke.Don't get this one because everyone says Texas.

Only thing I read about him was that he was concerned about the big man situation at Texas and wanted a coach that is good with big men. I don't how Shaka Smart is, or the ins and outs of their roster, but if there is even a sliver of a chance, I hope Cal is pursuing it.

This exact same thing was said about Bolden and Duke

Yes, but there were two powerhouse schools battling for him. Crystal Ball is 100% for Texas last I heard.
I meant the if he is so committed to them why hasn't he committed yet thing . I wouldn't get my hopes up on him coming here

I didn't say he was coming here,I said what if he was lying if he said he wasn't. I don't know if he is or not and neither does anyone else on this board.

You think we could sign him if EJ goes on academic scholarship?

Can't do that anyway. Would still count against the total amount. Can't just put a kid on academic to open a spot. Wish we could but against the rules. A player could pay his own way and open a spot but just can't switch to a different type of scholarship, unfortunately.

What is this kid waiting on. Just asking if anyone knows?

Don't know anything but you know if we were to pursue him hard now the Bolden is off the table, he would relish the fact that he can reject us after we all but ignored him. However, I hope I'm wrong and he is just waiting for the Lee decision.

Ever since Matthews transferred. Idk if anyone has noticed. But even if Lee and briscoe come back. We still have an open scholarship for one more player if we choose to go after someone else.

^^^^ refer to my previous post. Whether Lee and briscoe, one or both return. Regardless since Matthews has transferred. We'll have AT LEAST one open scholarship, could have up to 3 depending on Lee and Briscoe's decision. If we want to go after someone, we have a spot available, no matter what decisions are made.

The problem with all this speculation is that it empowers these 17 18 year olds to believe their value to life is far greater than it is. Just because their genes have made them 7 foot semi agile and full of promise as a basketball player. They mostly beleive that they are bigger than any program and can change the basketball world.

Unfortunately, ALL basketball coaches empower these kids with that idea. But that is their job and it is big business.

And I read about UK recruiting every day. Huh. Maybe I'm part of the problem too.

As much as we all would like Allen to show up on Campus he is staying down south. I find it odd that he hasn't signed a LOI but it's also odd no rumors have come out about him being interested again. I think Cal knew he was gambling with Bolden and took a risk. That's what recruiting is all about. I have two sources who say his name has not been mentioned in awhile.

From what I have read Allen is a Longhorn, but he just isn't signing an LOI. It was down to Texas and Kansas until the Jayhawks signed Azubuike and now he is solid for his home state school. However, he and his confidants have said nothing about signing an ASA agreement any of his top three schools, which are Texas, Kansas, or Houston. Kentucky has not even been mentioned at all in some time as a possibility.

None of us ever know what goes on behind the scenes. But, on the surface it seems like a big recruiting error on Cal's part. Past information indicated he had some interest in UK along with several other programs. The emphasis on Bolden obviously was ultimately a bad decision. I never exactly understood it because Allan seemed a little more skilled.

It wasn't a recruiting error. We backed off of Allen to get Bam. Bolden is not why we lost Allen.
