Now they get tougher, what are the odds you think each player returns next year (not to NBA, not to overseas league, not transfer)?

I sure as hell don't want to have to depend on Vanderbilt next year. Doubt he will stay healthy.
Why? If he can be drafted in the 1st round he will get paid. With his health concerns why would he risk trying to play college ball again?
I'd like him back but if he's going to continually refuse to play every time he's banged up then he can hit the road.
I don’t think he goes first round. Injury concerns pushed Harry Giles to 20th this past draft and Vanderbilt doesn’t have anywhere near Giles’s ceiling.
I think he should return, but thought Orton should return too.
Orton made a great decision.
No doubt. If he’d stuck around another year he wasn’t getting no first round money.
Vanderbilt would have made a huge difference in the game last night if could have played.
I feel pretty good saying I think he would have gotten a couple of PJ’s missed free throws or at least tipped one or two towards one of our players to keep possession of the ball.
This was the type of game he would have excelled.

As if the NBA doesnt know his health concerns... they wont gamble on him in the 1st Round.
even orton admits he wished he stayed.. hes playing in serbia or some similar toilet.

That knee would have held him back like it did his rookie season without being a 1st Rounder and at least now he has that guaranteed money... hopefully.
Because he has almost 0% change of being drafted 1st round. He can't shoot outside 5'. And don't give me that he made 60% of his FTs, those are unguarded; give me a week and I can teach a middle schooler to make 60% of his FTs. And he hasn't shown any ability to be able to stay healthy enough to play a significant number of games. A GM would have to be high to take such a risk.
Early results (35 votes) has JV with a 48% chance at returning. I think he may be the player we have the most disagreement on (thus why such a wide range of choices).

Yeah he's a hard one to figure out. When he was injured you had people constantly saying (whether it was true or not) that his group was making the decisions on whether or not he would play.
If that's the case, he might be gone even if he isn't projected 1st round.

hes playing in like an arctic country wishing h e was at UK. from his own mouth. his knee isnt keeping him from earning. hes playing. he wasnt ready for the nba. he said so himself. so did many others.

What did he show us? Length/athleticism/hustle. Offensively, he hasn't shown much.

Not for Kentucky, which is where my opinion is starting to curve.
Well, actually during that time it probably led to more great recruits. Not fringe second round NBA wannabes who want to go go go and think Kentucky recruiting them means they have been given an automatic entry card to the NBA.
Did you hear Jefferies announcement? lol, I want to be a OAD that's why I'm going to Kentucky. If Cal is willing to sell his system to fringe guys like that because he's missing on the ones it was always intended for, God help us. He wont get another title that way, too much would have to go right.
I saw that video. He regretted leaving.
And many players end up regretting it.
It's why I'm not fan of the culture and never was. I thought it would really benefit Kentucky to go down that road and it did, but all I care about now is Cal's legacy and a second title. He's not their father, spiritual advisor, and savior. If he hurts his legacy over this crap I will be sick over it for life.
It depends how you look at it. Giles played in over 20 games for Duke and averaged less than 4 points and 4 rebounds per game. Vando showed more potential than that.
Personally I never saw Giles as a sure fire star. Even before injuries in his high school highlight videos he wasnt exceptionally explosive. Giles looked like a big guy with a bit of skill that was always the biggest kid on the court. Just my observations.
Vando has shown he can rebound and run the court at an elite level and IMHO that's 2 more elite skills than Giles has.
He's a second round or free agent guy. Worth taking a very limited chance on, IMO. I thought he might come back to try and be healthy for a full year, but now I think he leaves even with a shot at a second round offer.

The difference is that everyone thought Giles was going to be hey superstar coming out of high school.
Giles got injured but his potential is considered much higher than Vanderbilts.
He suffered through an injury prone season. But teams had already viewd him as the next big thing for years.
That's the guy you take a gamble on.
Vanderbilt isnt viewed that way. He may be a good player. But he isn't viewed as a future potential superstr.
If he could stay healthy I would sure as hell like to have him back,but I think the odds of that are very small.I think UK is better off without him because there is no way to tell how much he would play.The needs of the many(team) out weigh the need of the few(one) No matter what Cal says.
Good points, I guess I just never bought into the Giles hype. Not knocking the kid I just never saw anything that said "superstar" about his game.
Give me a healthy Vando all day and twice on Sunday over a healthy Giles.
You watched the wrong Giles videos then. I saw him play in person several times and he was as dominant as any high school kid in the past 8-10 years. On two occasions I saw him absolutely light up and torch Jayson Tatum. Giles was legit.
With his health concerns and not exactly putting on a display of basketball excellence when he did play, why would any team risk a 1st round pick on him; especially with all of the talented bigs that are going to be in this draft. He should test the waters, most of them will, but most will come back if they truly listen to the feedback they get from the NBA people.
Wow! I didn't see those games. Just giving my personal observations. So Giles obviously had something special about his game at one time. Unfortunately I haven't seen anything from the kid that says he still has it.
As of now Vando has the better NBA skill set IMHO. I still hope Vando returns we need him and a healthy season could really propel his draft stock.
His knee gave way his rookie season and has never really healed.
He took the money and none of us know what may hVe happened had he stayed but we do know that knee has been a problem his entire career.
I voted 20, but wish he’d come back. Read a thread where someone said how dare some of us fans want guys to come back and deny them their millions and dreams. I don’t want to deny them anything, just delay it a year or two. In some cases they might improve and end up getting more millions. Plus they’d get another year being revered UK players, and on the oasis that is a college campus. If you think we’re bad after a loss, NBA fans can be brutal, and the real world is no oasis, it’s cutthroat.

JV is nowhere close to Giles with both being healthy. Never was and most likely never will.
He's made it very clear, multiple times, its about the kids and the families, not the fans or Kentucky titles. Our double edged sword.
