Return fumbles are the worst ( TDs on recovery, great field position etc). Two or three fumbles by a RB aren't usually as bad as 2-3 return fumbles.

I believe the 2 fumbles in the 2nd half of a Saints game is a big reason why Brandon Coleman is still looking for a team.

Great night, but speaking of fumbles....

It wasn’t a perfect night for Grant. He did have a fumble at the tail end of the first half, but his defence bailed him out, as Marcus Sayles picked off Stampeders quarterback Nick Arbuckle with just seconds to go in the second quarter

Grant won that game for Winnepeg. Final score was 26-24 and Winnepeg scored no offensive TDs (only 4 FGs). Not good to rely only on ST for points, but they (and Janarion) sure bailed them out today.

Happy for Janarion!! Did not realize the Ravens let him go. Just visited Winnipeg in May.

I miss that guy.

Indeed. It seems like we don't even attempt a return anymore since he left. Just catch the ball an don't fumble. Which wouldn't be a bad strategy if you had an offense that could move the ball, but...

It’s actually incredible that we’re a P5 team and don’t have a player who can catch a punt in the air.

You sure about that? I thought the knock on RU last year was we were always fair catching the ball even when a return appeared possible.

Yea but pretty much everyone we put back there would muff the kick. Nobody could field one cleanly.

It's true. Hunter Hayek had punts bounce off his chest. Avery Young is a fantastic CB but it's not a great punt returner either. Most punts we just fair caught and never tried to return. We didn't even have a semi-decent punt returner back there.

Agree on Hunter Hayek. But then you said something about Avery Young that does not align with what you said above. You said above "It’s actually incredible that we’re a P5 team and don’t have a player who can catch a punt in the air."

These are the athletes we need to start steering towards soccer at a younger level.

Undersized RB/WR and point guards with excellent vision, balance and speed.

Everyone wants to focus on making the NFL or NBA but these guys could be world famous if they excelled in soccer.

Random question on a random statement.

What is the purpose of steering young athletes to soccer? I get everyone cant make these leagues....but is soccer a sport where you can have some type of better chance just by deciding to steer towards it? Equally hard to reach the top level with world class athletes already participating. Why not steer these want ta be athletes to business degrees, nuclear engineering?

Can’t they do both? Become a great athlete and get a business degree?
