This is not a general college football message board. It is the Husker board. If somebody came over to your board and wrote disparaging comments about your program, then you'd have every right to be upset and respond accordingly. But they didn't. What you did is like showing up at somebody's tailgate uninvited and trashing their program. If you want to respectfully discuss things with us, then fine. Nobody would have any problem with you being here. But you seem to have no desire to be even the least respectful towards us and our program, on our board. Corvallis might be a nice town and OSU might be a decent school....but it doesn't matter what year you choose. We would stomp your second-rate program into the ground. Go home and stop drinking.
Damn. I'm still pretty positive this recruiting class is gonna finish good. But, the last thing I wanna see today is a bunch of Beaver fans talking smack on our Husker board.

The excuses you guys have come up with for why Calvin picked us over Neb is laughable... you guys seriously think we paid his family?!? Wow. Just maybe the kid decided he wanted to play with his close friend, or after he saw who our new WR coach is, he decided he wanted to play for him. If you don't know that there are lots of schools that pay kids, families, etc. a bunch of money you're not trying to pay attention. TBH I think NU needs to get it together when it comes to that.

I wish Nebraska nothing but the best and for a beaver fan instead of being on this board and criticizing Nebraska we should be more professional and not criticize Nebraska football based off of them losing a recruiting battle to OSU. I know a lot of fans of the beavs are hurt about the way things went with Riley when he left and what not but instead of bashing Nebraska be thankful that coach Anderson came to replace him. I hope Nebraska has nothing but success under Riley and they can get back to the GBR everyone remembers. Actually, not familiar at all. First of all, Oregon State has never won a national championship in basketball. They've never even made it to the national championship game. Two Final Four appearances-the last of which was in 1963. The last win in the tournament came in 1975(not counting a 1982 win which was vacated due to NCAA sanctions). That's nowhere even remotely close to the level of excellence we have achieved in football and much longer ago too.
Nebraska fans can lament over losing recruits like Isaiah Hodgins or Jamire Calvin to the likes of OSU. But we've seen it over and over in college sports. It doesn't matter how much tradition or resources a school has. At the end of the day coaching is the great equalizer. If it wasn't, then schools like Texas wouldn't be taking a back seat to schools like Baylor and TCU. Texas would have been in the college playoffs by now. Look at what happened with Penn State, Colorado. Great hires does wonders for programs needing to turn things around. Look at UW....even with Seattle as its setting, great academics and it's resources. UW was mediocre for over a decade until Chris Peterson showed up. You can bash schools like OSU all you want. In this day and age, once you make the right hire, it really doesn't matter if you are a "blue blood" program does it? All power 5 schools pretty much have state of the art facilities, an array of helmets and uniforms, are on t.v. a decent amount of time.
Kids don't care as much about what you have done 10 years ago. Coaching is where programs can become relevant very quickly or drop. Who knows what will ultimately happen under Andersen. He seems to be on the right track. Here's hoping you guys can get back to where you were. The Nebraska program has been nothing but class, you have and do win the right way. But

Some folks need to open their eyes. They think a select group of schools are willing to get dirty. That's not the case. Recruits are getting action from all kinds of programs across the country. Doesn't matter if they win four games or twelve. We are always going to be vulnerable when having to compete against that for recruits.

Clearly I'm not without bias as I live in Eugene, Oregon and have been a Nebraska fan for thirty years, but the above post is clearly fueled by emotion. I feel the need to debunk a few of his points.
1.) While most metrics would rate Nebraska above OSU, that is not what the Cornhusker football program hangs it's hat on in terms of academics. The academic support that athletes on campus receive on campus is without peer. This is why the program produces so many Academic All Americans. Also, suggesting that OSU is on par with UC Berkeley, UCLA, UVA, etc. is lunacy.
2.) Corvallis is not a Sh*thole. It's a fun little college town. It's downtown is cute but it is a far cry from the Haymarket district in Lincoln. Personally the climate in Lincoln would prevent me from really wanting to live there, but if you take weather out of the equation I would choose to live in Lincoln and it would be an easy choice. Though it couldn't be further from the truth, I don't mind the Eugene is a cesspool comment. Oregon State/Corvallis has always had a severe inferiority complex relative to the University of Oregon and the city of Eugene.
3.) Not going to get into this one. Who knows? It's possible but I'd prefer not to insinuate these sorts of thing unless the evidence is clear.
4.) We'll see. Mike Riley is responsible for some of the most successful seasons in Oregon State's history. He is by all accounts an exceptional human being. It is clear from your take that you are ungrateful for the many seasons that he delivered in which OSU performed well above it's pay grade. Gary Anderson is a quality coach but given the landscape of the PAC12, OSU has no chance whatsoever of competing for PAC12 championships. On a few occasions they were close to doing so with Riley at the helm. That is quite the achievement considering that OSU has been without Riley at the helm (and a few Erickson years) one of the worst D1 programs in the country.
5.) This is so silly. Rosters are not even set yet. How can you possibly make such claims without having any idea who starters are, etc? If you're comparing the scores over Oregon, grow up. There is no transitory property to results. If you go ask any Oregon fan, what was the best game they played all year, the unanimous response will be the game in Lincoln. You played Oregon under a lame duck coach with nothing to play for. I am confident that Oregon at the time we played them would've beaten the Beavs by two to three scores.
