I think Sharp made around 500k in NIL last year, he entered the portal and WKU came up with a bunch of money.

Cal is probably looking for a backup Center to play behind either Tshiebwe or Onyenso. I don’t see both returning. Get one back and then play Sharp 10-15mpg as a backup. Just my guess.

Yeah this is for sure the player fans were hoping Cal would reach out to.
I don’t think this is the guy that puts us in the final four either. My post is a reaction to those saying “cal has not reached out to ANYONE” even though I have read several articles and post that dispute that. The quality of this player is not what my post is about. It would also help some people to realize that not every player we contact will sign with us and Cal can not kidnap players and make them sign with us.

wow, no way this used car salesman cares about winning games @ UK
talking to this guy instead of Edwars or Ware
he is totally clueless
just as long as his 5* get to play all of the minutes
Let's hear your pitch to those guys given the current state of the roster.
Are you willing to top their best NIL offer?
Are you willing to guarantee minutes, starting position, role in offense etc?
Please tell me your not going to pitch the UK tradition and winning a title.
Most of these kids aren't really upset with their current schools, they're just chasing NIL dollars, more exposure, bigger role etc.
Going to a school to help win a title is way down on all the top guys lists.

This was probably insurance when it seemed like Onyenso was leaving.

This kid averaged 4 blocks/game, that is remarkable.

But probably not needed unless Ugonna ends up actually leaving and we need another rim protector off the bench.

If so, sign me up- seems like a kid who would be okay with playing 8-12 MPG and just blocking shots.

Even if Onyenso sticks around and is the starter, I would be fine with Sharp as a backup.

Shot blockers. You just can’t have too many shot blockers (is that how it goes?).

He does have to extend an offer however and not going to pretend I know if he has or not. Some believe cal is wait and see mode before extending offers which is the wrong approach if you truly want a certain player. Is he in “wait an and see” mode? I don’t know but with cal it certainly would not surprise me.

This list can't be right. According to some posters on here, Cal has yet to reach out to anyone in the portal. 🙄
Arkansas has reached out to over 90 guys, whereas UK is reported to have reached out to by 7 or 8.

There's your difference when it comes to prioritizing filling out a roster with quality depth, an aspect of the game Calipari has no interest in.

Reaching out to 90, that just seems to be a big waste of your time. Like Muss is just going to accept the first 6 he can get.

I feel like there is a happy medium between these approaches. 90 is ridiculous but I certainly hope we have reached out to more than 6.

Id much rather have the minutes going to Sharp than Lance W. At least he can block shots and dunk lobs. I remember him killing us in the first half a couple yrs ago, but got hurt at the start of the second half, and the best I can remember he could actually shoot free throws.

Well duh!!

Edwards ain’t going anywhere to be a backup! Sharpe is probably being looked at as a backup. So maybe if Onyenso not return. Where Edwards would be if Oscar not return.
Well duh!
Edwards will go wherever the NIL money is at regardless of backup or starter minutes and to compete for a title...which is why we won't get him

I disagree. He won't go somewhere if the minutes aren't there.

Regarding Arkansas, they pulled in a lot of transfers last year, but also lost 4 players to transfer, 3 went pro, and 3 ran out of eligibility. This year they will lose another 3 or 4 to the pros and, at this point, 1 to transfer. They have a nice situation where the state of Arkansas had a haul of HS kids like Pinion, Dunning, and Walsh was close enough, to maybe keep them on the roster when they would likely transfer out due to PT if they were at school anywhere else.

I like Sharp, just not a good fit in Cal's system. Can't play Sharp in such a way that he can be pulled away from the basket on defense.

If I'm Sharp, I go to a program that plays a lot of zone defense. He's be the perfect anchor in that situation.

The Cal brigade never knows when it’s the right time to flex.

This isn’t it.
I am not in the cal brigade. I think cal has a problem being a good offensive coach. I just hate that every topic or post on here there is a handful of people that find a way to twist it and make a negative post about cal. I’ve stated this numerous but I will again for the people in the back. Do I think it’s time for some blood in the coaching seat, yes. Do I have any control over it, no. So I will continue to support cal until a new coach is hired.

This is pretty much where I am as well.
