Terrence Jones to Washington

It sums up a lot for Calipari.

When Jones committed to Washington, that ended UK’s 2012 title chance. We were lucky, I’ve never seen a kid pick a hat then change his mind.

Then the NBA lockout brought back Lamb and Jones for a sophomore season. Sheer luck.

Cal is a weird case. Could have had 3 or 4, but really incredibly lucky to get 1 at the same time. Without Jones pulling a never before, and a rare NBA lockout, Cal would easily be sitting with zero national championships.

pretty bizarre for a guy of his caliber and recruiting prowess.

With extremely good luck, we would have 3 or 4. A couple of close brushes with a title involved some luck to get in the position. The 2011 and 2014 teams both needed multiple game winning shots in the waning moments to make their runs. If they shared some of their close game luck with one or two of Cal's better teams, like 2015, 2017, and 2019, we'd probably have at least 1 more championship.

Overall, we've had just 2 teams that were a cut above, 2012 and 2015, and a handful of teams who were in the top 2-8 range. Two championships by now would be a fair expectation. Even our best two teams probably weren't going to win the championship in their respective seasons. Getting one between the 2012 and 2015 pair and then 1 from our second group would have been quite fair.

You are correct, my bad. The talk was him not reclassifying and then entering the draft.

No worries. Just so glad to hear someone big enough to say they were mistaken. People will choose any and every hill to die on these days.

Man that sounds good but we all know Cal isn't going to change . Its not what Cal does . Even if he did play faster for 90% of the game he's going to grind going grind when the last minutes hit .
i know, but let a man dream haha.
