Before the Texas vs NC State game Mashburn just posed the question to Charles Barkley “what can we do to fix Kentucky?” All Barkley would say is that they’re too inconsistent, he loves Mark Fox and that Kentucky has amazing fans. He said if they made the 2nd weekend it would be a success

I seen that. He didn’t answer the question because he knows that Pope is the problem.
Barkley was very complimentary of the tradition and our fans.

Yeah, even he knows who really runs this team. Mark Pope might be the head coach, but Mark Fox is the brain behind everything.
Mark Fox being continually associated with UK basketball makes me sad

The Monster Mash is talking tournament this whole tournament? That's ******* awesome . I just wish we had a good team to enjoy a nice journey with him.
But you know, I think this Kentucky team has one good win in them before they go down and I believe they'll beat Iowa State. Look all we have to do is be Santa Clara, Iowa State, plus Virginia and we're in the Elite 8.
I'll take those three teams every ******* year there's a tournament. Every year. If we got that every year we probably have 20 more Elite 8's.
Those three teams do not have more talent than us.

I'm not scared to play any of those 3 teams, we may not win but it's not like those 3 are elite. It's actually a good draw & I've thought that since the selection show.

Even Mash knows and isn’t afraid to call out our faults and concerns, if he’s asking on a national show then makes me wonder what all is being said behind the scenes. Mash was that first stud I remember since Kenny walker and would love for him to be part of the administration or more involved with UK basketball side of things.
VERY interesting from Mash , I was going to make a thread but this one was already up, I thought it was significant that Mash even phrased the question that way or brought it up at all, KY HAS A PROBLEM , WHAT IS THE FIX ? Thats kinda damning by just asking that . Anyway what I found more profound was the was Sir Charles measured his words VERY carefully , you could see him thinking " how much can I say right now " as he seemed surprised by the question. Then politely dodges any answer whatsoever . And IMO he had an answer , he respects us 100% , he's followed us , he had an opinion and chose not to offer it .. that screams " Coaching issue " to me because he bit his tongue and didnt want to embarrass Coach Pope . Charles AWLAYS has an opinion . He's super smart and his takes are usually spot on , but he didnt answer Mash at all, didnt even hint around a answer .

Iowa St a d Virginia are both very good teams, especially Iowa St. They play hard and strong . Two things uk does not do
Eradicate Capilouto, Barnhart, and JMI at an absolute minimum.
I seriously doubt Charles follows CBB enough to have an opinion on Mark Pope.
That’s why he avoided answering the question and just said the one thing he’s always known about UK ever since his Auburn days: UK sure does have a ton of crazy dedicated fans! That’s always been his fallback answer whenever someone asks him about UK.

Yeah...Charles has watched all of probably less than 20 minutes of UK bball this past years....he's a NBA guy...he has no in depth college knowledge of a specific team outside of Auburn.
They do, I get why no one has much faith in this Kentucky team, however, we got a good draw.

Barkley watched us dominate IU, so he at least has seen 40 minutes of us this season. (at least we won that one). He may not have seen any of the other, less happy, performances.
Chuck is an Auburn man through and through, so of course he "LOVES" Mark Pope.....so long as he is UK's coach and NOT AU's coach, lol.
Barkley isn’t gonna character bash Pope on national tv. What I thought was interesting is why would Mash ask him that? Was he bringing national attention to our dumpster fire to fan it more or is he really blind to the real problem. It seems odd he kinda called out Pope indirectly because we all know the answer.
