Is he a realistic possibility? There is no way Oscar comes off the bench. I just don’t see how you distribute the minutes.
Would be alot of mouths to feed. My opinion I think Duren would start along side Oscar. Collins off the bench. Toppin or Brooks goes to the 3 and Washington and Grady at the guards. I know people hate the big lineup but there's no way that 1 of Toppin and Brooks don't start.

I mean, someone has to transfer out, right? Just can't see everyone liking their minutes. Someone like Brooks or Collins or even Toppin would be able to go get 30 minutes at another school, and play this season.

If it means you lose a guy or three, you absolutely take Duren.

I'd trade any five of our current players for him.

That's way overstated but I do agree with your overall point.

I think realistically it costs you Ware for sure. Beyond that, you've got a bunch of guys who just got here in the post. Would they pack up and leave already? Would Brooks rekindle those transfer rumors?

I wouldn't blame Oscar, but it would seem odd to end up where you wanted to be all along and then leave in the offseason.

I think the most likely situation would be a Ware transfer and then a clunky fit as Cal feels pressured into big lineups to keep everyone fed.

I wonder if you lose Ware and possibly Brooks and Collins is basically is a project this year, which he probably realistically should be!

I think Collins is really the only 4/5 combo on the roster who can get minutes at both spots.

I think and hope Brooks is here to be a leader and feels assured his spot at the 4 is safe.

If we're all being honest, it's Oscar who gets the raw deal here. He's probably our best post in terms of ready and immediate impact. But he's also not nearly the talent Duren is.

You can't really play he and Duren together either. Adding Duren really doesn't make sense from a fit perspective. He's just so talented you try to make it work. I'm just not sure how you do that and still field a lineup that makes sense.

If what the West Virginia fans tell me is true , Oscars minutes will be severely limited due to foul trouble anyway. I’ll admit I have no idea.

Maybe it sorts itself out that way. Kinda like it did with the logjam Cal's first year. Duren being young likely means he's foul prone too, so maybe 20-25 minutes of each guy going hard is best for both of them.

I hope we get the chance to find out.

Tshiebwe isn’t going anywhere. If we get Duren, they both likely start together. Cal has consistently played two bigs together and makes it work (to a certain extent). Patterson/Cousins, Randle/WCS, WCS/KAT.

With Duren (and assuming Mintz is back), I think these are our starters:

G Washington
G Mintz
G Grady
F Tshiebwe
F Duren

Simply put, Cal would have to platoon if he brings Duren in.

Ware will be the big loser if we get Duren. He won’t see the light of day.

Tshiebwe and Duren start. Brooks and Collins back them up. I don’t see any minutes left for Ware.

Toppin will play some 3 and 4. He and Brooks will spend alot of time at the 3. Cal will play big again alot of the time.

With or without Duren, Ware isn’t playing other than the final minute of games this year. And I think Ware will be solid his Jr and Sr years

If Brooks sees much time at the 3, I will pull the last few hairs out of my head. He can’t dribble and he can’t shoot. He has no business playing the 3.

Grady should start at the 3 with Toppin or Allen getting the back up minutes.

Cal is winning 38 (title game), 35 (Elite 8), 38 (title), and 38 (Final Four) games per year when he has a #1 overall pick.

You take Duren for that reason alone, and if it costs you some guys on the roster, you lick your wounds for a half second and then get ready for a Final Four run.

Truth.

I’ll trade my 9th, 10th, 11th man for a guy like Duren. You have to. It’s all about winning and getting the players that can help you win. That’s the bottom line.

If Duren is better, why would Oscar be upset? He needs to get over it, he won't be the best player in his team in the NBA
