David Sisk was just on the Tom Leach show. He said that over the past couple of days there has been some Jaden Hardy buzz. He said the buzz is that if he chooses college, it will be Kentucky. He says that Cal is recruiting him as hard as he's ever recruited anyone. So maybe there's still some hope after all. Fingers crossed!!

That'd be quite some "buzz", if true.

I believe that UK may be the choice IF he were to go to college but I still don't see him doing it.

However, read an article over the weekend that the G League only has one guy committed to joining them (Michael Foster). I can't imagine Hardy wants to do it basically by himself so who knows what happens.

But, if Foster gets $500k+ (as reported), Hardy could probably get $750k+...that's a LOT to turn down.

Yeah, it's basically what the guys on the Sources Say podcast said. No one is expecting him to do anything but the G League, BUT, he was considered a heavy UK lean a while back. And with the new staff, Cal has to put on the full court to the moon pull out all stops press so Hardy has to tell him no over and over. Make it so it's the G League or UK and nothing else. If he were to go to another college that would be totally unacceptable. I'll never believe he's coming to UK based on what everyone is saying, but we can hope a little.

Wonder if the possibility of the NCAA passing the Name/likeness rule has a major impact.
Can't hurt. Cal can now say "you can make as much here, if not more, plus be a legend at UK for taking a 9-16 team the previous year and taking them to winning the national championship, all while making yourself the #1 pick by being on national TV every night instead of whatever channel the G-League is on. Think about it, kid."

I'd say it will. Getting the big man on campus spotlight, national exposure (much higher than G-League) which will probably lead to being a higher pick and get paid? How could that not have a major impact?

This. It is a lot easier to recruit against the G-League throwing 500K at someone when you can show a kid a spreadsheet of what jersey sells, car dealership commercial deals, etc would look like when you have a fanbase the size ours. Add that to the "nobody watches the G-League so you aren't building your brand...get to pay on National TV weekly...chance to play in meaningful competition/games chasing a title instead of glorified AAU against the same people in empty gyms. 17 year olds love attention....so sell them on it. Once they can see that they can make chunks of money playing college ball as well then all that extra stuff makes CBB the more appealing option again.

The most promising aspect, to me, of the 21-22 team is having a an experienced starting lineup of four vets with one spectacular freshman, TyTy. Frankly I don't like the idea of a team with two green freshman OAD players who will play NO MATTER WHAT, with Cal "not trying to take anybody's heart away."

Not getting my hopes up, I have no faith that kids these days understand turning down half a million dollars now to make several million a year later.

I’ll remain hopeful but not gonna get my hopes up until it’s announced. I still expect the G-League to win out with him, unfortunately!

It doesn't cost anything to be optimistic, but reporting "if he does the thing everyone knows he won't do, it'll be this" feels kinda silly.

The renewed attention and reporting on it is interesting. Might be Cal just doing one last kicking of the tires, might be that the G League route seems less popular among this class (as of now), might be the NIL stuff.

Either way, I guess we're in the best spot you can hope to be in. I just don't feel like it ultimately matters if you were choice 2 or 200.

GONZO! We don’t always share the same views, but I am glad to see you back here posting. The board is better with you on it.

But the real question is if Suggs and some of these other guys that went to college get drafted over Green and Kuminga, how much more are they gonna make than them in that first contract. What's $500k compared to $5 Million?

I agree. I want an experienced pg starting and if we get TyTy he can back him up. We already have 3 SG.

That’s not how the spreadsheet looks. To them year 2 is the same in all plans. Year 1, G league 750k for a SWAG. KY is a scholarship with a subgroup of fans that have a terminal case of what have you done for me lately.

Winner almost every time will be the money.
