I wouldn't ever argue that Jensen doesn't need or shouldn't recruit 5-stars. Rather, it was about diagnosing a genuine interest in Iowa sooner in the process. Sure, every player takes some work and convincing, but maybe it doesn't always have to be that way (Woliczko, Wright, Olsen). Plus, some of that star-chasing can be mitigated by portal moves.
If you are recruiting a player for five years and they still can't give you a yes, maybe talk to different players.

Recruiting a 4 or 5 star doesn't always work out and actually seldom does for most coaches across the county, but if a coach recruits a player for 5 years and the player shows continued interest, I would think you continue to recruit them until they say "no". If you can get 1 or 2 each year, that's pretty good IMO.
