Genuinely curious- why is an announcement necessary? It’s just frustrating. There are 348 other teams that don’t have to wait in anxious anticipation for “announcements” from literally every single player to see if they’ll be returning. Especially players like Toppin.

It’s great that he’s back. Truly but the fact that we now get excited for a player lioe
Toppin to return shows how broken Calipari’s model is. We will still be losing majority of our team and scoring.

I will say I believe we’re going to go a bit above 500 next year so that’s good?
Have you been watching how many guys are transferring from everywhere? I'm glad we're keeping anyone, especially when it's multiple guys who have game experience from last season. Surviving this offseason with the transfer rule is going to be difficult anywhere

He’s 6’9”, not especially fast or athletic, and can’t shoot. That’s a PF, and not a very good one.
4 for 4. I dont know why people are still finding reasons to force themselves to be upset.

Askew, Allen, Ware, Toppin.. during the transfer protocol, no less. And we still haven't lost anyone out of the 4 expected.

I know these names aren't going to set the world on fire, but its exactly what we all wanted. 4* talent returning to build a foundation, while still getting 5*s.

This could be going so SO much worse, btw.
Well 4 o
You must’ve not watched any games. Toppin showed a lot of potential and can also knock dow the three.

He hit 4 three pointers during the entire season. I didn’t see anything skill wise or in terms of athleticism that makes me think he can ever be a big contributor. He could be fine as a bench piece but I wouldn’t want to see him playing 20 minutes per game. We need a higher level of talent.

He isn’t a 3 pt shooter first of all. More of driver and mid range game and can score from the line.

He didn’t make an announcement. He was asked a question and gave a one word answer. About as far away from an announcement as you can get.

But please, continue...
I wasn't going to say anything about it. But since you brought it up, "yeah" is open to interpretation.

Didn’t he guard the other teams point guard sometimes. I love his game. He has a different view since his brother got better over time and went like third in the draft. Let’s hope he turns out like his brother! Hope big brother tells him to stick around and improve!!

Well, maybe so, but he can improve. And he could also be a backup. We started this last season with him playing point with zero experience, so this is clearly better.
Askew can improve..but he’s not starter material. At least not until he’s a JR/SR. Hickman/Mintz/insert other PG *needs* to start next year.

You obviously missed him effectively guarding the other team’s PG numerous times...

Good news! Glad to have him back. He seems like someone with a ton of upside and could have a breakout year. He was arguably our best defender, had a nice mid range jumper and some nasty dunk attempts.

Just that as you say, it's a one word response to a question. I know I've been known to say "yeah" to someone and no be in agreement with them. I meant it sarcastically. It's not an uncommon response, with that intonation. Now, I'm not saying that's the case, here. I'm sure it means that he'll be back. But, as you say, it's not really a formal confirmation.

Worse? Briscoe was alot better as a sophomore than toppin was this season. Cmon.
That guy couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He was good when he got into the paint, but he was a turnover machine and from three point range, he was incredibly awful. Yet he left after two years. If he was so good, why isn't he on an NBA roster? If you leave after 2 years, it should be for the NBA.

Personally for me i really like Toppin. Yes... He made some mistakes this season but who didn't? I think if he can be on a team with a good point (I know) and several offensive weapons it will really open up his game. I think he plays hard. We were so limited this season offensively ("star" players didn't dominate, wrong point most of season, poor system, coaching decisions) that really no one looked good on offense for the most part.

I'm happy for him and that we have him. Given a good offensive team, he can contribute and shine.

Yeah is pretty cut and dry when answering a question. It’s almost as if it’s the opposite of no 😜

So right now we are standing at 8 scholarship players confirmed for next year:

Askew
Allen
Ware
Toppin
Tshiebwe
Hickman
Hopkins
Collins

Still desperately need a starter level PG and another shooter on the wing.

There are some good candidates out there for the wing shooter (Powell being priority number one), but I haven’t seen a single player in the portal that could meet our PG needs.

At this point, our best bet is to get Mintz back. That’s more realistic than waiting for a star PG to A. enter the portal and B. pick UK.

The nba has realized they went to far with the "social justice warrior" position as they are pulling back a bit on this.

There is a growing backlash against the woke as the Left has once again overplayed its hand.
It’s like you think there is nothing for anyone to protest.

Didn't realize this was even a ? considering the plan he was on-he was actually going to just sit/RS and not make up some story to play like 99% of the transfers were doing. I have a 5th cousin who lives in Hawaii and has a bunion, so need to move from Rhode Island to Kentucky to be closer to them.

Expect a big season from him and he's got the most upside of the tweener forwards that clogged the roster.
How do you think another 15 lbs. of muscle would effect Toppin's game?
