What are some good eateries around J'ville? I plan on hitting the Denny's as soon as I show up. Anything else?

Looking for an oyster bar/seafood restaurant that serves beer and has some TVs. Any leads?

High end and downtown: Cowford Chop House. Brand new and rooftop bar.

Medium high, great food, close to downtown: River and Post or South Kitchen.

At the beach: North Beach Fish Camp.

South Kitchen.

I can't contribute much to this discussion, but I can second this. The only thing our table had that wasn't that great were the fried oysters, which were way too salty. Everything else, especially the bread basket, was excellent.

There is this awesome Colombian hole in the wall restaurant called Salento that we went to this past summer.

I go to Jacksonville quite often for work. Culhane's Irish Pub is pretty good. It is in the Atlantic Beach area. Clark's Fish Camp and Singleton's Seafood Shack are also decent.

If you can get out to Jax Beach, check out Hoptinger’s. Local brews on tap, great cheese curds, upper scalish bar food with a Bavarian twist. Pretty varied menu.

Fogo de Chao just opened in the town center. If you want meat sweats, go there. It’s worth suffering for the next 24 hours.

Personal experience. Vouch for Metro. Good food and plenty of it. Great service. Won't blow you away or anything, but very solid.

Is this the place tucked away on a marsh inlet a few miles outside of town? Decks over the water, a little touristy, but not like a Bubba Gumps?

If so, I second this recommendation.

No.... you're thinking of Clark's Fish Camp.... South of JAX with all of the stuffed animals and live gator right when you walk in?

Eating at sushiko now. Delicious when I stopped on the way to orange bowl. Came back which is super rare.

Sounds like it. Was recommended by a local. He and his wife eat there often. Really good food.

I went there when we played Michigan. Pretty cool place. The food was ok, but not great.

Clark’s Fish Camp, get whatever fish you want stuffed with ‘Shrab’ shrimp/crab meat. Has a real vibe of the Lynryd Skynryd side of Jacksonville.
