He's one portal guy I will support. Struggled with health this year but wasn't going to take a spot away from the other three QBs that came in.

2-0 career starter. Done something only 1 nebraska qb has done in 11 years and that’s get a win on Black Friday. Hope he finds success at next stop.

He graduated and has 2 years of eligibility left. He was 2-0 as a starter and wants to go play. Hope he lands in a good spot to play. I wish him luck. I completely understand him entering the portal and imagine our coaches will do everything to help him find a place.

Wish him well…disappointed the coaches never even seem to acknowledge him during the season as a possible option. IMHO he was better than Brown…
Yeah, I'm sure he will leave to play for his dad. Not taking a shot at him but he's a walkon so the likelihood of him playing is pretty low.
Still baffled by the QB evaluation last season as I thought we had a starter between him and Brendan Sullivan going into this season. Stratton can play for somebody if he finds the right fit. Sorry things didn't work out for him here.
The kid showed potential last season, then was thrown on the trash heap behind Hecklinski and Brown this season, Brown who helped make sure Iowa failed to upset Indiana. Stratton would have had a better shot at completing that screen pass. The kid can play somewhere. That he's transferring is no surprise. I hope he finds the right place.
If Brown does move on think about where that leaves us. Fitzgerald will likely go play for his dad a young guy who at least gave us some depth. We will have Hecklinski backed up up by Sullivan and the incoming freshman Bessinger. Solid young group but no real experience. Kirk said at one point they don't plan to bring in a QB in the portal.
I posted quite a bit at the old site that it seemed a major mistake to move away from Brendan Sullivan and Stratton who I thought played well for us and would have made a solid duo this season after working with Lester for a spring. We picked up Brown who didn't look ready when he had the opportunity. Kirk has badly mismanaged the QB position which very soon will show up in spades I think.
Hank Brown should not be written off due to one play,imo.
Really hoping Heck is the real deal but we know you need 2 guys ready to go at that position.

I agree with you about Brown. It will help greatly if he sticks around and continues to develop as we need the depth.
If Kirk makes spring an open competition to determine the starter that seems the best scenario. If we we go into spring with Hecklinski the predetermined heir apparent we may well lose Brown and then we have a thin QB room.
Not sure why anybody would think the job doesn't have to be won.

san diego is indeed a very fine city but iowa city --> america's finest city feels like a bit of a dig at IC

The USD campus is niiiice! I can't say I knew much about the Pioneer Football League:

Jim Harbaugh coached there before heading to Stanford. My cousin also played there a few years back, they were in the Pioneer League against Drake and other FCS non-scholarship programs but they made the playoffs a few times when he was there.
Jackson Stratton will always be appreciated by me for coming off the bench & pinch hitting to beat Nebraska inthe penultimate game of the 2024 season. victories like that are priceless.

Any school that actually played Deacon Hill, let alone as a Starter, deserves every bit of QB mismanagement criticism anyone can throw at them. And then some.
