A little break from the "I heard form a credible source" ******** that some of you nut over.

Here are some quotes from Jack during the broadcast of the 2008 egg bowl.

 "Well, what do you know. The Rebels have put a couple of backup linemen in the game."
"Mercifully, the clock continues to run." "About 3 minutes left, many fans have long been gone. In fact, some of them are probably already home by now."

"Chris Relf can throw it long. He cannot throw it accurately, but he can throw it long."

"Well, that's only a loss of 9 there. So, it's only third and 19." "A great many of the 55,000 fans have left the game now (45-0), they might even be home now watching on TV". "It's 4th down and 24 yards to go, this ought to dictate a punt right now". 
"One can only hope so, Jack."

Seriously, Jack should write a book when he hangs it up. If he's still standing when he gives it up.

We may just hear dead air one day during a broadcast and find out that he kicked the bucket.

I loved it when twice UM was flagged for celebration after scoring and Jack says- thats terrible, throwing a flag on a kid that just made a great play. Let the kid celebrate a little.

Anyway, something like that. I was laughing my *** off at Jack giving the referees hell for throwing those flags on ole miss.

As much as watching the game sucked, listening to Jack call it was priceless.

Another on a hand off to AD- hand off to Dixon and he is murdered on the play.

I used to post on swan lake quite a bit and saw a post about this alarm clock. The clock wakes you up to Jack quotes and calls throughout history.

Anybody seen this or have a link? I might ask santa for one this year. I'd rather wake up to "Jack and a headache" than just a "headache"

sometime in the first quarter I think when UM went up 17-0 he said something about how Ole Miss was gonna have to send in their second team kickoff coverage unit because the first unit was gonna tire out covering all the kick offs. I lost it on that one. I couldn't make myself listen to much more, but I almost wish I would have just to hear what else he had to say.

...want Jack fired for this, but it proves to me that he's as good as he's ever been. Granted, he gets a name wrong from time to time (hello, Randy Stewart), but this is high comedy and completely appropriate.

was an all time gem. He was absolutely hilarious the entire ball game. I recorded the game and plan to listen to it again just for his comments. Certainly, not for the suspense of the game.

born to a couple of Russian immigrants to the US. They were dirt poor farmers and from what I hear barely could speak English. Got into radio and by accident and a trusted referral, was hired for the MSU spot. Never looked back.

I have a friend who's grandfather was the one who recommended him for the job. According to him, there are some priceless Jack stories out there.

(I could tell a few myself from the time when I was in school. Friday nights used to be party time.)

I know where he lives. I was over there looking at a house for sale one day and just so happen to drive by when he was walking out the get the paper or the mail in a t shirt that was about 2 sizes too small and slippers. I swear I think he heard me laughing because he was looking my way when i glanced back in the rearview.
