Pretty clear he has been overextended and overused. He is starting to hit a wall. He’s only a sophomore and last year was cut way short. So it’s not all that surprising. But he is some kind of talent. The endurance will come one day.

4 IP, 7 Rs (5 ER), 4 BB and 4 SO tonight against UF.

I'm going to enjoy seeing Vandy be beaten in a regional/Super regional.

I wonder if his dad is questioning him going to Vandy to play for Corbin. He will wear an arm out in March and April unless you're a freak athlete like Rocker.

I thought that too, but his specs showed him in the 91 - 95 mph all day today. Doesn’t seem like velo was his problem.

This is the time of year when scouting reports get out on young pitchers going through the SEC for the first time. It takes experience and maturity to go three times through an SEC lineup. That’s why veterans like Rocker and Nikhazy are fine but Leiter is hitting a wall.

You’re seeing the same thing with all of our starters- Fristoe in particular. That’s why last year getting canceled hurts us. Imagine having Macleod, Bednar, Fristoe, maybe even a better Cerantola all with a year under their belts.

Given Al’s lengthy resume in the game, he would probably laugh his *** off at this post.

Playing better competition recently is probably a big part of it. They opened with SC (who got exposed this weekend in Oxford), Missouri, LSU, and Georgia. Last three series have been against Tennessee, State, and Florida, all Top 20 teams.

This. Leiter's arm isn't worn out. He only pitches once per week. Baseball is a game of continuous adjustment.
