I’m interested because he was a Cat and is a Nugget. They think he can be a contributor if he stays healthy, and he appears to be getting there, finally. The Nuggets took a chance on him and Porter who hurt himself yet again recently. That’s what you have to do when you don’t have the budget to try and just outright buy a title like some franchises.

Since the Nuggets have a higher payroll than Lakers i guess they’re trying to buy titles too.

Even though Shawn Kemp never played a game for UK I still followed his career and cheered for him as a player in the NBA. I will do the same for Vanderbilt because he chose to come here. Some of you guys look for reasons to be bitter.
Kemp ranks right up there with a list of players that never played a game for UK who could have been the missing piece in winning another title.

JV and Diallo are my least favorite players at UK. I don’t follow the NBA so, I don’t know or care what they do.

I pretty much 100 percent agree. Those 2 immediately came to mind. Exception being that I do follow our other players. These 2 irritated me and I couldnt embrace them because I believe we were used for their advancement rather than the team.

I believe most fans are saying that it would have been great to see JV in the 2017-2018 NCAA Tourney not saying he wasn't injured. In most of JV 14 games he played only an average of 20mpg and was close to Double/Double games in some of these games. If JV was 100% healthy he could have dominated inside rebounding and now that he is healthy he is hitting his outside shot better. JV, PJ, and Knox could have dominated inside and JV would have been a double/double machine. If UK has JV during the NCAA Tourney and being healthy I would have loved to seen the game with Kansas State with JV, PJ, Knox, and SGA it would have been a different outcome and would have helped us reach the 2018 Final Four. We really missed on having a 100% Healthy JV during Kentucky's run in the SEC and NCAA Tourney in 2017-2018.

He's an unusual talent. Enough to keep a spot in the League for a while. I still don't and won't pay much attention to him or his career.

He was injured, and with all the health problems and you still get a contract, you best be on your way. Not sure why the sour grapes if he had been healthy with the lane that we had in the NCAA we could have won it.

So you’re admitting you’re not a basketball fan. Cool.

Ignoring the obvious talent of JV just to piss on him? Throwing in some Diallo hate too? LMAO!!

These players owe you nothing. They owe the team good grades and respectable off-the-court citizenship for however long they choose to be on a college scholarship. Now they’re out here grinding, trying to make an honest living as US taxpayers.

No hate for Daniel Orton? Or is he your third most-despised UK player? Derek Willis blacked out in the middle of the road didn’t stick with you? The Real T Jones and his penchant for getting into some nonsense?

I’ll end this by saying that I don’t give a damn about any of that stuff. Singling out JV and Diallo is quite strange though, given the long list of players who have suited up for Kentucky’s men’s basketball team.

Just imagine if Dakotah Euton played in the blue and white. Good grief.
When I want advice from you, I will ask for it. I have my reasons, and you have yours. Do not attempt to tell me how much of a fan I am. Your brain is fried anyways, from the posts I see of yours in the Paddock.

He was legit injured, his first game was January 26th of this year. People act like he started playing in the nba right after the draft.

“For the first time in 328 days, Jarred Vanderbilt played in a basketball game Friday night.

Making his NBA debut, Vanderbilt had one point, three rebounds, an assist and a steal in four minutes off the bench during the Denver Nuggets 132-95 win over the Phoenix Suns. “

“Prior to Friday night, Vanderbilt's last game came in an 80-67 loss at Florida in Kentucky's regular season finale on Mar. 3, 2018.“

Man.. Some y'all are just ********
Exactly .. I don’t know how many threads I started on commented on when everyone was blasting his shooting.

I kept saying look at his all around game. The passing , rebounding and elite level hustling and that his shooting would come around.

He would have made a huge difference in that tourney game against KSU.

I am almost positive he would rebounded some of PJ missed free throws and changed the game.

He had also hit like 10 of his last 12 shots before sitting out again.

Would have loved to had him healthy for a year.

The guy was legitimately injured here. Sure, he coulda forced the issue and played more but that would have been a reckless financial decision.

I don’t wish the kid ill will but he played like 9 games for us, so I won’t actively watch his career.

We’ve had a lot of kids that have come through here to play their one year but the past few seasons have felt like a fast food minor league team when it comes to the team, for me at least. I cheer for the jersey but the names on the back change so constant, it’s hard to become fans of them past wearing a UK jersey.

I'm not saying he will be that good. Although I guess it's possible.
But his skillset is so unique, so different from everyone else, it reminds you a lot of Rodman.

Kanter was ruled illegible and couldn't play. It appears JV chose not to play. Quite a difference.

I believe JV was healthy enough to help his team in the tournament. I also believe he was told there was an X% chance of re-injury. I can't blame him for his choice, at all. But I believe it was a choice and he chose not to play. I don't dislike him, but won't be nearly as interested in his career as other a Cats.

You really don’t think a doctor had some say in his injury?

For the life of me, I can't figure out why the JV conspiracy theorists blatantly ignore this. He wasn't even ever 100% last year in the NBA/G-league. This summer is the first time he's played healthy since high school.

No. Do you have actual evidence that says, health wise, he couldn't play? We all saw Cal's cryptic quotes about it.

Nope which is why I don't make any reference to something that I have no knowledge of, good advice. All I have is proof that he was injured. :)

I think a doctor told him he had a choice. And he chose.
When Cal was asked about JV's status, didn't Cal say, "it is up to Jared"? I understand that to mean that he was cleared to play if he chose to,which he chose not to. Not a bash, and I don't really blame him.

My point of him not being one of my favorites was not a bash, simply that I did not see enough of him to connect with.

When he was injured before the season UK had said it could be mid-Jan before he would be ready. A lot drama went on between that time and the time he actually played, which iirc was mid January.

It's always crazy how things can be given to the fans word for word and how they can twist that into something entirely different and then get upset when the conspiracy theories fail to come true and things go exactly like everyone was told they would.

People are always going to hate Vando because of one reason, they were told too much. Stuff like injury status is more than apparently the common fan can handle. We saw it on a greater level with Hamidou Diallo. He was probably the most honest player to ever play here. He told everyone before he came here exactly word for word every single step he was going to take and he ended doing it exactly step for step the way he said he would and fans hated him more and more because he was too honest.

As much as I love Cal, he wants to see if some kids can play through pain, some can’t I guess but only Vanderbilt knew how he felt. The longitivtiy of this injury implies it was far worse then anyone knew over the long haul.

What's dynamic player. Would've been a real difference maker especially in that ksu game with such a slow pace. He can rebound and go like a PG.

Definitely hope he makes it and looks for certain he will. But as others said hard to have the same connection based solely on the very limited amount of games he played

As a human being I chose to wish good on him! Kid was injured a lot in high school! I’m glad to see him doing well! As far Diallo goes I will support him like I do all our players! Diallo didn’t cause the drama! The drama started was by the fans!

For those of you saying JV would've made the difference in the KSU game, just remember we were down 13-0 to a mediocre team without their best player. We did not come to play that day. That's the problem with Fr dominated teams. You never know which team will show up.

I am with some of you above. Dont really consider him a Cat. Won’t follow him for sure
Ha. He 's Jared Vanderbilt. He put on a Kentucky uniform and played for the team. You're an anonymous internet poster. bigbludumb. A nobody. What on God's green earth makes you think anyone cares whon you think is a cat. He was an all american recruited by multiple schools and chose us over them. Two hundred years from now, Jon Scott's site will still list him as having scored on the court and a select few to play in the NBA. A wildcat. You know who I know isn't a cat or any part of the program of any importance. Bigbluedumb. Forgotten by his family the day after the funeral.

I agree that he is a “Cat” but why does it upset you so much that , some, don’t consider him a true Cat? It’s just people’s opinions brother.
