Unique player with consistently high motor. He could be a Draymond Green type player if he stayed healthy.

Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. Wish him the best.

He's an unusual talent. Enough to keep a spot in the League for a while. I still don't and won't pay much attention to him or his career.
I think it's hard to blame a 18/19 year kid for stuff his handlers/family were doing. I think it is pretty clear that they didn't want him to play after he got hurt and at some point in the season he decided he was going to play despite what they wanted him to do. It was very unfortunate he got hurt the second time, there was no way his family/handlers were going to let him play after that.

His situation was weird

Wish we had him the whole season. Would have had very different outcome for our season.

He goes and takes the rebounds off the rim and goes with it. If only he had that consistent shot

Corrupt handlers for UK guys = can't blame the kid.

Corrupt handlers for Duke guys = blame the the kid.

Whether he played one game here or all 40 he'll always rep Kentucky so I'm rooting for him. Kanter is pretty well liked and he played zero games at UK.

Kyrie only played like 10 games for Duke and he's there golden boy in the league
Cause Kyrie is their only decent player in the league. Lol

Vanderbilt would have been the difference in 2018. With him healthy, we get to the Final Four, IMHO.

SGA, Diallo, Knox, Washington, and Vanderbilt would have been a great main five with a healthy Vanderbilt.

So, you are either saying we should blame the kid always, should never blame the kid, UK fans are hypocrites, or defending Duke. None of the choices make sense to me.

As mentioned above, JV went against some in his circle and played, even with an increased injury risk. The re-injury was bad enough to keep him off the court until around the all-star break this past season. I get it, was a weird situation, but to hold it against the guy like he did something to personally slight you is myopic. He is as much a cat as any 1&D to suit up for us, imo

Not that it matters what I think but he is one of the few if only UK player I cannot stay enthused concerning his playing career. (Except that Porter scum. He is in his own world of despicable.) Not sure why but it seemed he had passion but not specifically for Kentucky. One and done's are no issue in my book (If you can make it, make it. Just don't cause UK harm and I am a lifer if you played for UK.) but in his case he seemed to have that passion for the game but not necessarily for the UK game. (That is an important distinction.)

He always seemed to dance the hokey pokey where playing at UK was concerned. (I know the injury part.) Just left me with feeling nothing for his time spent at UK. (Not a bad feeling but not a good feeling either. (Wishy washy won't get it.)) I don't wish him any bad. I do wish him well. I can't not wish anyone well except for a very select few. (That doesn't matter either.)

Even though Shawn Kemp never played a game for UK I still followed his career and cheered for him as a player in the NBA. I will do the same for Vanderbilt because he chose to come here. Some of you guys look for reasons to be bitter.

Now you can try sorting through the coming genealogy nightmare of Ole Shawn....geez that dude had some troubles...

Kanter was ruled illegible and couldn't play. It appears JV chose not to play. Quite a difference.

I believe JV was healthy enough to help his team in the tournament. I also believe he was told there was an X% chance of re-injury. I can't blame him for his choice, at all. But I believe it was a choice and he chose not to play. I don't dislike him, but won't be nearly as interested in his career as other a Cats.

Whether you like JV or not, one thing you have to admit is that he played full-speed and all out when he was on the floor. He was extremely active and made things happen. He had a knack to get rebounds too. Those are things that a coach loves which will help him have a better chance to stay in the league. Anyways, when his name is on the screen and it lists his college, it will say “KENTUCKY”.

There's a fifth choice: all the talk of handlers and scandals, at both UK and Duke, are overblown. I know Nike took care of Bagley and Zion. Outside of that, we know next to nothing on any of these kids.

How odd that 2 years has past and He's just gotten healthy enough to show the type of player he really is. Everyone likes to complain because he couldn't/wouldn't play but never complained he always gave his all when he played, great rebounder and passer. If he stays healthy he will be one of the better all around players in the NBA one day. Yes, I consider him a UK guy like all the rest. If you've ever been injured you probably understand better that every injury is different and takes different people varied recovery time, even with same injury.

Ben Simmons cant shoot either but he has a knack for getting to the rim, and will be a 100 million dollar man in the league.
Vanderbilt can play in the league a long time if he is half of Simmons. Their games are somewhat comparable

JV and Diallo are my least favorite players at UK. I don’t follow the NBA so, I don’t know or care what they do.

So you’re admitting you’re not a basketball fan. Cool.

Ignoring the obvious talent of JV just to piss on him? Throwing in some Diallo hate too? LMAO!!

These players owe you nothing. They owe the team good grades and respectable off-the-court citizenship for however long they choose to be on a college scholarship. Now they’re out here grinding, trying to make an honest living as US taxpayers.

No hate for Daniel Orton? Or is he your third most-despised UK player? Derek Willis blacked out in the middle of the road didn’t stick with you? The Real T Jones and his penchant for getting into some nonsense?

I’ll end this by saying that I don’t give a damn about any of that stuff. Singling out JV and Diallo is quite strange though, given the long list of players who have suited up for Kentucky’s men’s basketball team.

Just imagine if Dakotah Euton played in the blue and white. Good grief.

I’m interested because he was a Cat and is a Nugget. They think he can be a contributor if he stays healthy, and he appears to be getting there, finally. The Nuggets took a chance on him and Porter who hurt himself yet again recently. That’s what you have to do when you don’t have the budget to try and just outright buy a title like some franchises.

Porter is a waste of money. I don’t think he’ll ever be able to play enough to even matter!
