No one in their right mind doesn’t think this JV thing isn’t at least a bit curious.
Here’s my thought on it, if he’s been cleared by doctors to play, then he should be playing. If he hasn’t been cleared to play, then the Athletics Department is doing this young man a disservice by not announcing this.

Pretty simple.
If. If if. If we had some ham, we could have some ham and eggs. If we had some eggs. You said you think you know what’s going on and you come out with if, if, if?

This thread needs to go. To leave this ignorance up is like officials letting a bunch of cheap shots go and then having to throw 15 penalty flags to get the game back under control.

You can change that by informing him of why Jarred hasn't returned yet instead of just attacking the post. It would also be the same as deleted if everyone would quit replying to it. I'll never understand the mentality of bumping bad threads thus keeping them at the top of the board.

His first post come off bad but his second explains his feelings and I don't think he is out of line to feel that way. I too think Vanderbilt is the best player on the team and can't wait to see him play.

So this is possibly the most asinine thread in the history of this forum .
No but he is rated in the top 3 biggest losers in the ESPN top 100
Chill out on the name calling folks.

When it's all said and done his return to the team will be right on cue with when they said it would be months ago. His injury isn't something you rush back into play with either. He's going to return and looked like he was ready to go tonight but I'd say Cal chose not to put him in a close road game for a couple of reasons.
Well John if he wasn’t consistently obtuse and negative then the name calling would probably stop. He is one of the worse and has allowed to be for a long time. This thread is exactly what JR was talking about.

Cal just stated in his Post-Game PC that he doesn't even consider playing a kid until the kid says he's ready to go in a game.

So even though Vanderbilt has been practicing and going through pre-game, until he tells Cal I'm ready to play in a GAME, Cal will not play him.

Cal also stated that he does't even work with the players that are injured. So, until Vanderbilt says he's GAME-READY, he won't even be in the gameplan. Cal even went further and said there comes a point that he will shorten his rotation and if a player can't go, he'll go with who can play.

Cal sounded like Jared is at a point of play soon or it won't matter if you are ready or not.

IMO he should be ashamed for not playing in this game. I’m almost to the point where I hope Cal doesn’t even let him come back. He’s been ready for weeks now. The rest of the guys are out there gutting it out and having to play short handed each game when he could be providing much needed depth.
Says he who proclaimed Jamal Murray "Archie Goodwin 2.0." LOL

So, without knowing details of what's going on, an attack of the UK player is acceptable to you. Good to know. 3000 words or 10000, that doesn't mean something is justified. And yes, he's questioning the manhood of an 18-19 year old. That's an attack on his character.

Calm down. I’m just going by what some guy named John Calipari has said. He’s basically indicated JV has been medically cleared to play.

I think vando wants to play but he has family/friends in his circle advising him not to.
With that said, I think he debuts next Saturday against Florida.

Harry Giles was medically cleared and almost immediately after coming back he had to go get another procedure to be done. Medically cleared doesn't mean prepared and ready.

Without his second reply, you're spot on and if he hadn't returned to clear things up we would have deleted it.

In this 1-done culture, it is what it is. We have a kid who was a borderline top 15-20 guy in high school who wants to be a one-done guy, who believes he's a one-done guy (who I'm sure is hearing a lot of noise), and who chose Kentucky to be a one-done guy. I believe not playing actually hurts his draft status, but others in his ear likely feel different. Why have your weaknesses exploited? Some fans think he's a "savior," so maybe there's an NBA team who will be curious enough to draft him in the first round based on watching some practices.

Fair enough, but an edit is absolutely in order. Put the second post in place of the first. Or at least let the justified responses to that idiocy stand if they were made before he "clarified."

This same thing was allowed ten fold last year with Diallo by a lot of the same people. If the rule about attacking posters is enforced, the one about attacking players should be too.

Thanks for spending your Saturday babysitting mental breakdowns, by the way. You guys deserve a raise.

"an attack of the UK player is acceptable to you" I've seen much worse when a player has a bad game. If that stuff isn't out of line, I don't see how the statement you're referring to is.

I'm positive that I've read a Calipari quote saying he wanted Jarred Vanderbilt's first game action to be in a home game at Rupp. If that's the case, then why is Calipari commenting negatively about Vanderbilt not playing against Vandy today?

I didn't say any of that stuff wasn't unacceptable. It's just on this site you are able to be as disrespectful as you want to be towards our players. That's why this guy continues to say whatever he feels. He unlike that poppadawg guy didnt come out and call him a "pus"

The OP’s entire sad and pathetic reason for being on this board is trying to harm Kentucky. He thinks this line of criticism will ultimately have a negative impact on recruiting, just as he did when he raged against Diallo and others. He’s a truly weird person.

Vanderbilt was my favorite recruit of this class and I thought he’d be our best player. Made me sick that he got hurt and had to miss a few months. Atleast he was legit not ready during that time though. He’s been doing workouts and going pretty hard for close to a month now. I can’t help but wonder how his teammates feel. When I played we would have ripped into someone if we knew he was healthy and not playing. The majority of our other guys have just as much to lose NBA wise as he does, yet they’re all out there.

I just never would have thought he would be the type to do this. We’ve had some guys in the Cal era that it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they sat out when they could play just for nba reasons, but Jarred didn’t seem like one of those to me.

Must really gall your *** when we win. Leaves you with nothing to ***** about except a teenager who’s situation you know nothing about.

Do we know if Vanderbilt is “practicing in full” yet? I guess I don’t expect him to see the floor until he has been cleared for full participation in practice and practices for a couple weeks.

Because he said this post game: "
“I don’t,” Cal said when asked when Kentucky would be back to a full rotation. “I didn’t even ask him. I didn’t know if Jarred [Vanderbilt] was going to play before the game. I was doing the board and just acting like he’s not here. If he is, he is. If they are, they are.” “The problem with being injured if you’re on my teams is, I really spend no time with you. Sometimes, I'm going to say this out loud I forget names I even forget who he is because I have to focus on the guys that I’m coaching now. They’ve got to be healthy and ready to go. Jarred has to be the same.” “I hope he would give me more than I got today because I didn't see him all day. I hope. I don’t push kids. They know their pain. They also know their bodies. I’ll tell you what also happens when you’re injured; it’s not physically, it’s as much mentally. And conditioning. Those are the two things that get you. When he’s ready, he’ll be here with us.”\

Those are some bizarre comments considering Vanderbilt was at the shoot around and the game. It does sound like a challenge to the young man.

While I’m not a fan of the tone or message of this thread, fan shaming without substance is also unfair if one is to infer from your post that attacking players is a real widespread problem in BBN.

I’m not buying Jones’ thesis on player bashing causing problems in recruiting. Is he serious?

If a UK recruit can’t handle a random idiot on twitter from time to time, how’s he going to handle Madison Square Garden and the New York Media the next year?

These kids aren’t wallflowers and UK’s supposed “player bashing” is no epidemic to worry about. If it was, Calipari would have addressed it.

Does anyone know if Jones had real examples and was able to cite players and their families who have said this, or is he still merely mitigating the public damage of being atrociously wrong on Bol, Barrett, and most likely Zion?

Hopefully, if Jones and others are going to publically disparage and shame BBN, they are willing to provide real examples of what is supposedly happening.

If it really hurt recruiting then harrow and wiltjer would of damaged it in 2013 with the way fans talked about them.....

But I think two threads started today was because UL fans heard KSR and decided to pounce

Why has it turned out to be a big part of American culture that we take the liberty of making comments and determinations about a situation even when we know next to nothing about that subject? Why is that? I wonder what look Jarred would give me if he were sitting next to me and I showed him this post. What would he say or think about the OP? Do you think he would agree? Do you think that, even he, at 18 or 19, would know you cannot judge another's situation when you know 0% of the story?
