Izzo is still too good to move on from. But I don’t see him getting close to winning another championship in the current landscape. But they were a top 10 team most of the season. What do you do?

He has won 11 Big Ten titles and been to 8 final fours. That alone I believe is better than anything Knight, Crum, or Pitino has done. Certainly Hall of Fame worthy.

That may get you fired from Duke, Kansas, UK or UNC, but not many other places. When he starts struggling to make the tourney or win a game in it the pressure will ratchet up.

Are you serious bro? Knight won 3 titles. Pitino won 2 at different schools and has been to the FF 7 times with 3 different schools. This is a whacky post.

Izzo’s a great coach and a HOF’r but not in those guys league. Crum I will grant you, though even he has multiple titles. Conference champs mean little to me, and at some point even FF’s lose a bit of their luster when you are consistently getting curb stomped once you get there.

I have a lot of Michigan State family and lived up there for 15 years, those fans love izzo. They dread the day he leaves.
They even defended Izzo during the rape allegations, becauae they feared they would lose him. That was a fine lone, because it was very close to victim blaming.
Their mentality is different. They thrive on playing the underdog role. It works for them, because when they lose, they were supposed to lose, but when they win, they act like Izzo just hung the moon and their team overcame so much.
Boeheim got away with it at Syracuse for 40 years.
Some fanbases are good with conference championships and sweet 16's.

I mean it’s Syracuse and Michigan state. Those are awful programs typically. To have them in the national discussion year after year of course they would love him. Same as few with Gonzaga.

The last of the" yell at the player" coaches.

It'll be good when he is gone. I'll be damned if you talk to my son like you do. You wouldn't be able to pronounce your name without a whistle.

That garbage you do to "motivate" is almost up.

And when you go, take your buddy from Yukon with you along with the Cow.
Go yell at your wives.

Largest following and most invested fan base in the sport and he’s pissed it away with horrible hires and horrible contracts. Maybe one of the worst power 5 AD’s of all time.
Eli doesn't think so. He said Mitch is the best AD in our history. He either knows nothing about sports (which I don't think he does and why he gave Mitch free reign over athletics with no oversight) or he's covering for Mitch because Mitch knows where the bodies are buried. There were several scandals during Mitch's tenure. How much of that was covered up and who helped cover it up?

Izzo is a great coach and has had a top 8 program over the last 30 years.

His system is able to be a top 3 seed every year, but it is not able to win championships. Oats is sort of in the same boat, but he is younger and trying to make the title winning adjustments.

Thanks to Barnhart's mismanagement of our program, we only have one title in 25 years as well.
I don’t disagree but he’s been coaching there for 31 years. And was an AC there before that for TWELVE years. So FOURTY-THREE years.

ONE title.

he’s a tough old buzzard but he’s an old man on a porch at this point.

I can’t imagine only getting in NC title in 43 years at one place. Wonder if they’ll prop him up like Lenin……

How Izzo keeps his job is beyond me.
This is beyond stupid. The dude has won a national title and been to eight final fours at a school that had only been to one final four in its entire history before he became HC. He is BY FAR the greatest coach in the program’s history …yet you can’t figure out how he keeps his job?

Yeesh, it seems like the average level of stupidity on this board has skyrocketed in recent months.
