I mean i get it they want equal pay but it aint gonna happen. Womens soccer doesn't bring in enough money

I dont know how much NIB makes compared to Leblanc. But she deserves to make as much as the top women's soccer coaches in the ncas

Yup, world wide it is definitely skewed towards revenue for the men's game, but not here. Of course, a lot of that is success. The US has medaled in all 8 women's world cup tournaments. The men I believe have only medaled once and that was like in the 1930's.

I agree with the concept of equal pay. My question for you is how much revenue does the women’s World Cup generate (ticket sales, tv rights, merch., etc.) compared to the Men’s? Is it equal? For example, the men’s purse is $400 million and the women’s is $30 million. At first glance, that seems rediculous. But don’t we need all of the facts before declaring equal pay?

Doing the men's laundry could add a couple of $100 to their pay.[cheers]

I completely agree that NIB deserves and should be paid more than LeBlanc. This opinion based on the attendance of the female games and their consistent success.

I believe the conversation is about the women's national team for the United States and if you look at the average attendance compared to the men (don't just look at 4-yr tourney #s) then you'll see a huge drop from men to women. Men's attendance average in Brazil - 53.5k. Women's average attendance in Canada - 26k

Plus, look at advertising dollars coming in from different media outlets. There is a huge drop. The USSA (?) can't force companies to buy at a certain price if attendance isn't up and the eyes aren't on the televised games (International Friendly/smaller tourney). Think of this as a business and they should act accordingly.

Congrats to the USWNT for winning the World Cup. It certainly was a great team victory.

FIFA pays the World Cup teams, so yes, the equal pay argument is about the 4 year tournaments, not the pro leagues.

I said nothing about pro leagues. I was referring to the World Cup tourney along with FIFA U-20 , FIFA U-17, Olympic (Tokyo 2020) & finally Youth Olympic (Buenos Aires 2018). Please don't assume. Plus if you look at the advertising dollars coming in then you can't act on equal pay. Based on the numbers (sponsorship/media/ticket sales) that FIFA has released and USSA tournaments (SheBelieves/International Friendly) - I don't see the numbers warranting an action. I'm citing FIFA, USSA, Business Journal. I'm open to other data points though.

TIL U20 and U17 are biennial.

I had assumed (yeah, I know) that FIFA payouts were sort of passed-through to the players. I could not have been more wrong. Here's a good write-up in the Washington Post.
