I have to admit, Cal has broke me for the most part, it's also the entire change of the NCAA, the NIL, one and done, hell, none and done, etc., I've just moved on with my life for the most part. I've been following UK for well over 40 years, I just don't like the product anymore. I still find myself watching CFB occasionally, though the NIL and transfer portal will likely kill my enthusiasm on that as well. I recommend moving on, vote with your wallet, don't attend or watch the games, that's truly the only way change will happen. I would love to see him depart, immediately, simply put, he doesn't represent the state nor our fanbase. He's one of the more inept coaches in all CBB, yet he's the highest paid. He's one thing, a recruiter, nothing more.

I've stopped watching as much too for the reasons you've mentioned, but also because officiating has become absolutely dreadful across all of college basketball. I'm by no means blaming our poor performance on refs, just saying that college basketball isn't fun to watch regardless of who is playing. Half the time players get mugged with no whistle, the other half you can breathe on a player and get called. There's no consistency in the sport.

It's not that Cal broke you. You're just following his advice: "don't let anyone steal your joy." And Cal has 100% been a joykill. It's almost like that's his goal.

QFT, Cal truly doesn’t care about the overall well-being of the program. He’s openly stated his goals are larger than wins and championships, he’s mostly interested in getting players to the next level. In all honestly, that should be an immediate priority, though not to the point that the program becomes secondary. It ultimately transcends all of us In due time…

I dont watch much sports at all anymore. I have found all this amazing free time to do new things n the one life we get and love it.

Don't get me wrong, I keep up with scores on my phone and talk to you people daily but the message boards are more entertaining than either the basketball or football products.

Then stop being a fan and move on. Things change with time and it’s not going back. Also, Cal isn’t leaving.

Personally, the fact that players are being paid in NIL deals is irrelevant to me and my enjoyment of watching CBB. Never thought players, or students for that matter, should be restricted from making money as long as it was (1) legal; (2) not a bribe in disguise; and (3) did not interfere with their contractual obligation to the school. What I don’t like is the schools being involved with NIL. In my opinion, that’s bs and creates the bulk of the problems.

I have no problem with them receiving something as well, my concerns are exactly what you expressed.

So, maybe you and I have some of the same thoughts on this. Starting with the colleges, athletic departments and way-past-their-prime school jock hangers-on just leaving the kids alone? The schools have controlled the financial aspect for so long they can’t let it go. I feels like they just can't fathom not being at the center of the process.

I think the simplest thing - and the best thing for the schools – is to offer an education, room & board, cost-of living stipend based on need, tutoring, great medical care, training, exposure, and other concomitant benefits I’m not thinking of right now in exchange for the player agreeing to play a sport, devote a certain number of hours to practice, etc., maintain a standard of conduct, and meet the same minimum academic requirements as the rest of the student body. Outside of that, let them earn/make whatever money they can in the free market. Set up rules to prevent bribes (pay to play), like requiring that the compliance office is made aware of all employment/NIL deals to ensure it’s a fair market deal and not a bribe. If it’s not reported it would be a per se violation and loss of eligibility. The whole thing wouldn’t be any harder to monitor, and maybe easier, than all the rules and enforcement effort going on before. If that means a few more kids would choose not to go the college route, so be it. The product would be fine.

Hate these whiny posts. If you have given up then go watch hockey or something. Things have been terrible for the most part. Not arguing that. Just don’t see the point in the self pity.

Better take whatever posts you can get because if this turns into apathy and the fanbase completely tunes out, big changes will come and big buyouts won't stop it. Where there is will, there is always a way.

I guess honesty now is considered self pity, man what a bleeped up society we’ve become…
