Cal has never gone two years without going to a final four while at Kentucky.

Whew! I thought you were going to say Cal needed to go if he didn't make it this year or some nonsense like that but your post was reasonable . Yes in first 7 years Cal made the final 4 more then half the time and made the elite 8 the other time . Basically if we get to the tourney a final 4 is almost bank with Cal . Hell his last few years at Memphis an elite 8 was basically bank as well. He just knows how to coach in the tourney . I expect we will make the final 4 this year especially since our D has come around lately. The key to picking final 4 teams is no huge weaknesses . Like KU only having one big man and even he has zero offensive game . Or Duke not having a pg and absolutely no bench . Teams like UK , Zona , UNC are really good picks IMO. My picks are UK/Zona/Purdue/Oregon

Get the #2 seed.. take down a 3 seed that may include UofL, UNC, or UCLA... And then just get through a potential #1 seed..

That Elite 8 game might be the toughest for Kentucky.. You know we'll have the best #1 seed to get through, we'll be playing 2 nights after a Sweet16 game, which could be tough for our young players, and it's almost bigger stakes than the next game, to get to the title game..

Four years since a National Championship! A NC is the measure of success in the BBN.

GBB!!
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forget the fact that the day Cal took over we had literally gone 14 out of every 15 previous years without a National Championship.

When Cal took over UK had won 7 titles in 70 years; 1 title every 10 seasons

The NCAAT started in 1939

LOL then the team has sucked all but 8 times. No the measure of success is winning and gettting far in the tourney. A reasonable fan just wants to be in the conversation of winning the title as if you are then you will win one some of the time. Cal has had us in the conversation every year but the NIT year . Even last year we won our conference and the SECT title and should of been a 3 seed. Now I think we would lost in the elite 8 with the correct seed but that is still in the conversation .

That's an amazing stat considering he's been here almost a decade.
Yes it is and I think it stays that way or improves . I expect Cal to be here til around 2025 and I think in the next 9 years he will make around 5-6 more final fours and win it 1-2 more times.

those elite 8 games are historically tough for us. cal has lost only one here in five appearances. that makes me happy inside.

Relevant if I had been saying we won the title only 1 time in every 15 chances we had to win it. But that's not what I was saying.

What I was saying was that before Cal arrived here BBN had been cheering on Big Blue for 106 years and in general had been proud and happy enough with our team to consider them the greatest team on the planet overall, even though there had only been 7 titles---and therefore AF's assertion that BBN only cares about NCs and going four years without one is a relative weakness is historically inaccurate.

I certainly love titles and so does the rest of BBN and that's perfectly fine. But except for some younger bandwagon fans we'd need a much longer drought before we started being dissatisfied with what Cal keeps providing us: a realistic /chance/ nearly every year at something so rare we were second place in all of history by only that measure even with only 7 of them, plus continued separation from everybody else in all the ways that we are first place in all of history.

I still think this team is going to go on a tear in March. I said 6 regular season losses before the season so.
