I'm all for Murray leaving and I am happy for him. I just feel like we are getting trolled by UK with this "special announcement" crap. Why keep us in suspense this way? Without saying who just say it is an announcement of who is definitely going pro.

I agree. I'm glad he is going pro because he earned it but come on, these pressers are beyond pointless

I thought the extreme secrecy meant "health". Specifically, Calipari's health. And that meant the Big C.

Glad to be wrong.

I don't watch them. Cal thinks it helps recruiting, I guess.

Are these UK marketing people the same clowns that come up with the stupid football slogan like All In, Why Not Us? Geez, fire them all

Did he have two caps on the table, one for UK and one for the NBA and started to put on the UK cap and then went for the NBA one?

No surprise here at all but I still support Murray and having his press conference as a way to personally let the fans know what he is doing and his way of saying good bye, nothing wrong with that. As for a surprise announcement, I thought UK just said it was a special announcement, not a surprise announcement, am I wrong? Congrats, Murray, and wish you the best of luck ahead.

Anyone expecting some kind of "surprise" today is stupid. Seriously, some are so gullible.

Not sure why we make a bigger deal out of these announcements than other schools, but it seems like we annually do. I guess Cal figures it helps recruiting to treat it like a huge deal, but frankly, to me it seems over the top with all the "special announcement" press releases and heavily attended press conferences just to announce something that everyone already knew was a foregone conclusion.

Ah, c'mon. Don't be a bad fan.

I heard E.J. Floreal tried fondue for the first time last night. Let him have his moment.

Pretty cool moment between father and son there. He and his dad are clearly very close. Yes, we all knew this was coming, but Murray deserves this special announcement, he's one of the best we've had here.

Murray wanted to thank the UK fans for the support. Wanted to announce it himself.

Some "fans" on here are ridiculous and pretty pathetic.
I think most here are not upset towards Murray. Its UK making it sound like something other than the obvious announcement from him. If they had labeled the presser a "player announcement", I don't think we'd be seeing the negative backlash.

Call DeWayne Peevy and let him know how you would like the press release worded next time. I am sure he will listen.

No need to get snarky. We are all fans of the same team here and we are all entitled to an opinion. I respect that you must disagree with mine.

lol at the people getting upset about this.
Yeah, probably more than I should. I knew this was coming and it's not the result that got me going. It's the hoopla and the pageantry for something we obviously know. It's a bigger production than it needs to be, but that's just my lowly opinion. I welcome people to disagree with me on that.

This is the part that is silly. UK didn't build this up, message board weirdos did.

UK sent out a press release that simply said, "Special Announcement regarding UK basketball tomorrow at 2:00"

How is that building anything up? What harm is there is giving Murray his chance (which he said he requested) to thank the UK fans, tell them about his time here, and announce his decision?

It is mind boggling the reaction some have had to this. So weird.

I get what you are saying for sure. But this is the day and age we are in now. Everything has to be a big event with press conferences and fire works for every occasion. Not saying I agree or disagree with it, just the way it is.

This, and this only. UK said they were having a special announcement, the board took it and ran with it to no end.

This is exactly right. After taking a few minutes away from the board, its makes more sense. But I still feel like UK had to know that a vague statement was going to instigate the message board weirdos into massage speculation.

Thanks to Jamal. An amazing player, that made this season really enjoyable to watch. I wish him the best going forward, and will always consider him a cat.

For those of you fussing about the UK announcement, this is the kind of marketing that makes some many of these great players want to play for Cal and UK. If you watched the announcement and his moment with his dad, you know why it was a "special" announcement.
