It's kinda fun....

....to watch the Rebs melting down over Cam Akers. Maybe he goes there, maybe he doesn't. They sure are putting all their eggs in one basket though. What an insecure bunch that is.

I hope he goes to FSU. The next week's worth of melt will be super entertaining.

The flip side of that is -- if he goes to LSU -- it likely drops another 4* RB in our lap. So they would miss on Akers to their real rival -- while their fake rival is counting starz**

I'm not sure -- but Brewster tweeted last night that it felt like Christmas Eve again for him... 4 fanbases that feel like they have a good shot at him...

Maybe. But Brewster (remember him?) is recruiting him to FSU and has posted some interesting things on twitter. His son is a recruiting analyst for FSU's 247 site and has crystal-balled him to FSU.

Reb fans are definitely nervous. It's fun to watch so many people pin their happiness and self-worth on the decision of an 18 year old.

He's a really good kid from all accounts. For his sake, I hope he goes elsewhere. If he ends up at Ole Miss, he will never amount to anything - playing in an offense that doesn't prioritize the run and may never play in a bowl game. I think we got the better RB in this class, despite what the recruiting "gurus" say.

I guess the tip off would be what school has the most "insiders" covering the announce. Was it lashley that told Steve or someone last year not to bother to show to the announce because he wasn't picking state?

I would typically say this has Ole Miss stench all over it, but surely not this year, right?

It definitely smells like Ole Miss.

David Johnson is covering the announcement. Mama loves Ole Miss. Yancy is posting sunglass-covered smiley faces.

That said, there is no logical, rational reason for him to go to Ole Miss. None. Steve Robertson presented some numbers on the boneyard a couple of weeks ago detailing just how many 1000-yard rushers they've had at Ole Miss (it's surprisingly low) and how little they have run the ball under Freeze. Plus, the NCAA is about to hammer that ***. Kid would make the worst decision of his life if he went there, but it wouldn't exactly be the first time we saw an 18-22 year old make a bad decision. I would also find it hard to believe that they ponied up for him with the NCAA in town, but this is Ole Miss we're talking about, so that shouldn't shock any of us.

It's just entertaining to me. I don't care where he ends up. Like I said before, I'll take Kylin Hill, thank you very much.

the network has already made the deal with mama so I would just wish him well. He certainly knows about the upcoming probation and mama has told him, we need the money son and these folks are going to make sure I am taken care of. Hard to understand any other reason to go to Ole Miss. You can rest assured if Yancy is glowing, the money has already been dropped off.

Yet most of their normally cock-sure fans are conceding him to FSU right now...

It will be an interesting announcement either way.

After the announcement, I look forward to firing up the computer and checking whatever boards didn't get him.

It's really interesting. National media went all in on FSU crystal balls a few days ago. Vols felt VERY good this time last week, only to have their mods throw water on the flames this morning. Ben, Yancy and David are EXTREMELY optimistic, but the two days have started every post with "Now recruiting can get weird..."

I say Ole Miss, but hope he picks FSU.

Seems like most rebs were 100% sure they were getting him a day or two ago. Now most seem to say its a 50/50 shot. Not sure whats happened, but I would enjoy the melt down.

Help me out with the crystal ball thing. If people like R. Fault or any other of the people that cover recruiting make the correct guess, what goes that give them? More notoriety as an expert picker?

I wouldn't call Ben, Yancy, and David "extremely" optimistic today.

David has been really hedging today, it seems like. He's sticking with his Ole Miss prediction, but he's not warm and fuzzy about it. Yancy has been talking about "relationships" and how Akers has one "person" (his dad) who is pushing him to FSU but everyone else in his circle is pushing to Ole Miss, so he thinks it's Ole Miss because that's what Mama wants. Ben doesn't have a brain of his own and just regurgitates whatever Chuck and Yancy say.

He may end up at Ole Miss, but it will be delicious if he goes elsewhere.

I think they all keep up with their success % but it's not an exact science. Some of these guys change their picks multiple times based on what they hear, so they appear to be more of an expert than they really are.

Many simply CB recruits to whatever school they most recently had an interaction with since that's the most likely party to get a surprise commitment. There's no penalty for switching, and you get to keep your points for a "correct" commitment even if they decommit and ultimately sign somewhere else.

Even if he goes to ole miss it doesn't mean that he will bring them back to relevance. Their crootn class has been stink so one player ain't going to bring their rankings up to even top 25 that they so covet. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Are we still pretending that recruiting doesn't matter? Did you see their recruiting class last year?

Didn't he tweet that he decided he had to make mama happy? Don't that pretty much wrap it up?

IMO, LSU is closer to Clinton than Oxford. It is an easier drive, too. They also have the whole CornDog thing going for them, when all UM has are NCAA Sanction tear soaked chicken tenders.
