Disagree, sort of. Like someone else said, no exceptions he needs a third year to see if he has learned from this season, and evaluate mid-season. If things have not improved, fire him and assing someone interim and immediately look for a higher profile coach.

They aren’t going to improve. Let’s give him half a season to see how bad it can get. Is that what you meant?

Think maybe Pope might conduct a huge staff shake up next season…gotta stay in tune with the jimmys and joes. Should probably pull some of his playing days teammates into the mix perhaps?

Did he put together a joke of a team last year with no players entering into April? Even if every single player left, he still was able to show that he can put together a sweet 16. Look.. I’m pissed about this loss too, but to just say they are going to be an embarrassment next year is not the best look on our fan base.

And I don’t trust him constructing a team. He has proved he can’t.
What?!?! One year ago he had a sweet 16… with injuries!!! This year has been disappointing but there are reasons why it has been disappointing that has been outside of his control. Did I like the sub patterns tonight?? No, but all the bigs sucked. Did he play Jasper too much?? Yes, but jaspers family is up his butt threatening to leave next year when all of uk fans are saying to keep him. Aberdeens shoulder also got banged up.. you remember that? We also shot horribly at the line.. is that popes fault too?

Blah blah blah shows he did better than cal did. You don’t think a healthy Jaxon and butler make a difference? There have been 3 coaching changes in my lifetime.. tubby-title, Billy g- crap, cal- elite 8 with a healthy roster and John wall, pope- sweet 16. Is that so bad and embarrassing for his first year?

Ah the Mark Stoops defense. We saw how well that’s worked out.

He has to land a recruit and make the tourney. If he can’t do that I’m ready to knife on at this point.

Cal went to 4 final fours n 5 seasons. Pope better start improving fast to match that.

Dusty May can sell the fact he took a team to the final four. Jai Lucus can sell he coached under Cal and Coach K. I could go on and on with these. What can Pope sell to recruits? Players come for the coach and the money. I don’t think blue blood matters to players anymore. Pope won a championship as a player, big deal, what does that do for me as a player or for my son. Mitch killed us, we should have still had Cal if he would gonna saddle us with a nobody.

6 years of mediocrity is killing me! I spend too much money going to games and the enjoyment the games provide is too few and far between anymore. I’ll be at USCjr next Tuesday and that’ll be my last game in person until something majorly changes with our program!

Again, he cannot recruit. I don’t understand how some aren’t grasping this. He literally has struck on most of his first portal targets and he’s something like 0-27 for freshman NBA guys, which yes you get them too. Kentucky has always recruited those types back to the 40’s lol. Calipari did it stupidly, but you still get them.

So he’s laid millions to win now not learn from being terrible. He can’t coach, he can’t recruit. He’s a dead man walking. Next year by all accounts unless he overpays badly which I don’t think the booster will allow him, it going to be worse. Then we’re really in a mess.

Mark should be fired at seasons end not really based in this season but RECRUITING being so bad. There’s no light in sight. That’s what some aren’t getting. Bad players, huge losses, no recruits signed, and hasn’t to gate got any of his first portal targets. He needs to go and we need to be back channeling now.

This is what 22 million got us. Pope will need at least 80-100 million to win a chip.

6th 7th 8th and 9th men aren’t cheap.

Maybe next year we can have a couple more Kentucky mambas and a couple more injured stars with lottery potential. I’m fkn pumped up baby who’s with me?

Seriously, a third year? We lose Oweh and Aberedean and we have signed ZERO players. You think this year was bad just wait for the clown show next year.

What's embarrassing is a 41 - 21 record and an entire recruiting industry that has turned their nose up at Kentucky. We might miss the tournament this year. Still a lot of games to be played. That's bullshizz.

The only way I agree with this is if he was able to recruit and he's not. That alone indicates to me that he's finished. You can't have a season like this season with no hope in the future waiting. That's precisely what's going on in Lexington.

We had to go through this. Keeping Cal wasn’t an option he had to go. Kentucky can afford a couple seasons like this to piss off the sleeping beast. We will be back. As much as I make fun of this saying…

“THIS IS KENTUCKY” we will be back better believe it.

No, we didn't. We could have hired a coach with some coaching KSAs that qualified him for the job.

Nice guy but is still learning on the job. With no recruits on the horizon I wonder if he realizes that his days are numbered. I was so hoping that he would succeed here but, don’t see things improving in year three. I guess the end of the season will tell the tale. So sad…

I went to bed at halftime, knowing the cats would lose to Georgia. Unreal.

should’ve lost to lsu and Tennessee so this guy doesn’t come back.

The University of Kentucky is only predicted to win 1 of their last 5 SEC games. Zero recruits coming in. Talks of making the tournament. The heart of the team being questioned nationally throughout the season. No GM and talks of how Pope is not resonating with the recruits. Not the talk of their own conference. No talk of winning a national championship or even getting past the first weekend. Just dropped $22 million on this roster and with these results. Coach this late in the season talking about how his team is not listening to his instructions.

Yes he will get a third year but do you have hope in Pope to turn this around. With what players? Will he always be that coach who surprises you with a big win but then turn around and lose a game like Georgia and Missouri at home? I have no hope in Pope. We are just delaying the inevitable.

Recruiting is in the shi**er, two seasons of blowout losses, key players totally quitting on the program two seasons in a row, runs his teams more like a therapy session than a CBB powerhouse, and has made the brand a complete laughingstock among recruits and agents…

Did I mention recruiting, both HS and Portal, is in the shi**er? And some are asking for a 3rd year of Grace?

Are we having a laugh, Cats’ fans? 😂

And he’s not. He is the same guy that walked into the door almost 2 years ago.

He’s a veteran coach. He’s 53 years old.

He’s coached what, 8-10 seasons?

He’s played for some of the best coaches ever, Pitino, Bird, etc. He played at the highest level in college. He played in the NBA.

He is what he is. And what he has become over his career to bring him to this point is simply not good enough for the job he holds.

It’s unreal how poorly Barnhart conducted the coaching search. How’s he so untouchable.

Went after a northeast prick and a southern clone of himself.

zero recruits signed, what better time to make a change.
