...to start looking at our strong positions and the stars of tomorrow. Let's do offense.

QB
I feel good about the guys we have but it all depends on who will be running the offense. (Langsdorf or..... someone else) I think POB's stock is going to go up if SF sets up office in Lincoln.

WR
Morgan is a stud and JD Spielman is legit, but after that we literally have a giant hole in the roster. This is a huge problem for us next season. Imagine if we suffer an injury here. We need to hit the JUCOs for a player or two here. Will McQuitty pan out or wash out? Keyshawn, if he returns, doubtful IMO, will basically be a freshman who lost a year. Tyjon never exploded and probably would not have played this year outside of the extreme need we had. I like the idea of moving Lamar Jackson here, cuz that dude ain't a corner. I am not sure if any of the current recruits will stick with us if the is a coaching change. This roster problem could get ugly.

RB Oz and Wilbon are blah. Jaylin looks like a great talent. He has me very hopeful, but we need to recruit here. I do not count on Tre returning to lead us. I don't trust bum knees in football. Are we even recruiting any?

TE - Do we have any? Any that can block? Until then we are in trouble here. JUCO? Not sure of a quick solution here.

OL - Biggest addition will be by subtraction. These guys minus Coach Cav, Gates and oft injured Knevel and we might get a real line. Gates is an absolute joke if you watch the replays. I think Boe Wilson has to get some time. He will become a fan favorite doing double duty at full back.

I agree with everything you said. I think Gebia transfers and Lee declares for Draft once MR gets fired. We also probably lose a few other guys. As well as lose many of our recruits.
Our biggest area of concern is the O and D lines. Those will probably take some time to get recruits in, and corrected. Yes Frost will probably really need to focus on some JUCO and walk on for the next year or so.

Maybe I am a little more glass half full on the depth on offense.

TE - is a spot that I think could be a strength under the next coach. Stoll & Engelhaupt are both now on the two deep and both freshman. This I believe is the first week for Engelhaupt to make the two deep. And of course Austin Allen is another freshman who red-shirted this year who has a ton of upside. Then Jergens should stay committed but I hope the new coach throws him on defense since I believe think consensus on him is that he'd be better on defense. That's 4 big bodied athletic young guys right there. The problem with the TE spot for half this season was Danny was not "trying to work these guys in the mix". Throwing to them one or two times a game is awful . Their blocking will come with a new coach

WR- I am not worried about Tyjon. He is only a true freshman and I think next year he will take a big jump. The depth is thin but there is a handful of commits that we need to keep right now. I wrote off Keyshawn coming back the minute he left.

RB- The new coach needs to recruit a RB. The recruiting of RB under Riley & Davis was awful. He lucked into JB and didn't offer until way late. The only guy he recruited really that committed was Bryant. We need more RB depth

OL- I think this is the trouble spot. I feel sorry for our next O-line coach but I hope he makes these guys mean and I hope he keeps them accountable on their strength training.

QB- Who knows what kind of shape we are in. We bring in a triple option coach, then maybe Lamar Jackson moves to QB. No one on the current roster could run true option. If we land Scott Frost -I agree that POB will be much better under SF and Gebbia would be too.

It’s little doubt that Frost’s offensive system prefers a mobile QB, but don’t be mistaken, it’s not a run-first QB system. I don’t think Lee fits the system at all. I think O’Brien lacks wheels but could suffice.

The little that I’ve seen of Gebbia is that he has some speed and could be a perfect fit.

I would be more shocked to see Gebbia transfer than to see Mike Riley be retained.

I think qb will be our biggest issue offensively. We have serviceable qb’s but none I would call optimal. This Is assuming Frost is our coach.

If we keep anybody on staff, I wonder if it would be WR coach Williams. His son is on the team; and, he could potentially keep some of these recruits committed, keeping our WRs from transferring or decommitting.

Plus WRs were not the problem this year. A few drops at the start of the season, but other than that, they are the lone bright spot this year

Our WR's might be the best in the Big 10 next year. Our OL and TE's can go nowhere but up. The RB position doesn't have a ton of talent, but certainly won't be bad either. QB is definitely the biggest question mark. I think TL is out as starter. Is O'Brien or Gebbia ready to step up or are we going to need a freshman or transfer qb to run the new coaches offense?

You failed to mention one word concerning the defense. The worst defense in the B10 and it isn't even close, dead last in total defense, second to last (pending outcome of Illinois game) in rush defense - a major overhaul will need to be undertaken. If you are consistently surrendering more than 5TDs per game you can expect to lose a majority of games.

It all starts in the trenches in this conference - a major upgrade is necessary if you are going to compete with the top teams. Right now, that's a project with no easy fix. Fans like to speculate about the offense and especially the Off skill positions but the rebuild should focus at the LOS on both sides IMO.
