With Fidone still limited and Gilbert being new, there's a good chance Boerkircher is getting first team reps this spring. Whether or not it stays that way in the fall is another matter. In either case, the TE room looks solid.
Gilbert might be new to NU but not power 5 football. Different scheme from last year so I would say it's Gilbert's job to lose.

So like, why is Danny Woodhead there? Not an attack on the guy but he did not attend UNL. It would be like him showing up at a UGA practice.
Does he have a Covid year of eligibility left?

Also, it's not like him showing up at a UGA practice.

Last time I checked, North Platte high and Chadron are in the Husker State of Nebraska. Although I think western Nebraska would be well served by secession from the degenerate and dysfunctional east, until that happens he's still N-family.

Looks like Rhule took away the single digits and will issue them out to his best players like he did at Temple.

First thing Rhule has done as our head coach I don't like. And I don't like the single digit jersey thing ALOT. This is something you do with a junior high team. Motivating players by them aspiring for a single digit jersey is something you do at Temple. Here at Nebraska, we expect every player to play tough whether he has jersey #1 or #99. I can see where this kind of thing, Matt's teambuilding tug of wars, etc. went over like a lead balloon with his professional players at Carolina, and they said as much.

So Buford #1, Newsome #6, Washington #7, Farmer and Smothers #8, and AJ Allen #9 lose their numbers. So much for him showing up and saying these are "all my guys". He just stripped guys who weren't really his guys of their numbers. Numbers are important to players.

Just a friend visiting? Curious why a former Georgia player is at practice.
This staff has developed relationships all over the NFL and college. Rhule has mentioned Woodhead before. Not sure who the Viking backer is there for but no doubt he’s either a friend or relative of a player or a staff member.

Meh. Never cared what number I had on my Jersey. Just wanted to play. Personally I would give all the backers and DBs numbers in the 70s or 90s to mess with the WRs and QB.

Can you please update this post tomorrow morning when you sober up or take your meds?

I reviewed your post history and you are a very angry person.

Back in the day you would have gotten a week suspension for a post like this. But since the changeover to InsideNebraska, anything goes and your hate is what we freeboard people live with nowadays. I just ignore posters like you who have absolutely noting to offer.

Which players said anything bad about Rhule? Only player I've read or heard (haven't looked because I don't care) is McCaffery on a podcast I listen to, and he had nothing but praise for him

Here at Nebraska, we have 6 straight losing seasons. Here at Nebraska, we have the longest bowl-less streak of any Power 5 team.

Change should be embraced.

I liked the number I got, but had I gotten the chance to compete for a single digit jersey on a toughness metric, voted by the players, I would have been motivated to achieve one of those numbers.

Players having to earn things around here is a nice change of pace..

This team is going to be the first in the history of college football to play the entire season with only tight ends on offense and DBs on defense. At least for now those rooms seem rather large, especially if HH moves to TE.
I would rather see us play three tight ends than play some of that empty backfield, block with five garbage that Scott Frost used. We've still got QBs healing up from those days.

I don't agree with your feelings about the numbers but you're spot-on about the vibe on this board.

So I liked Bo and Frost but man, it is such a contrast to see a coach that, you know, likes the media and enjoys talking to them and answering questions and giving information.
Oh come on! What's wrong with Bo and his "I could care less" comments about what the media thinks only to later have recordings that revealed that he was obsessed with it? Or Scott Frost, with the multi-million dollar salary, who had all summer to write his Big 10 media days speech? I used speech to text to get this written down for you all:

"No. Let's go to questions."

Hahaha! I never saw Frost's "speech" at Big Ten media days, I only heard about how he didn't give one. So freaking funny!

Deion is doing a similar thing in Boulder.. I’ll guarantee you his kid is wearing #2..

He is even tacking a bit further.. If you want a certain number you have to earn that if some others want to wear that number too..
