Monday, i was in Starkville and had my 9yo son with me. We walked into Bulldog Burger and as soon as I lay eyes on nearest TV, Vandy hit the 3 run HR to go up 7-1. I initially blamed myself but then settled down. But still began to prepare for the worst; we are about to get swept, I thought. We left BB later and we all know how game one ended.
well, today, me and the whole family walked back into Bulldog Burger and standing right under that same television were TA and Mule. Of course they took pictures with us and signed a ball.
but it got me to thinking….these guys never doubted. Their positive attitude never relented. The same determination could be seen on their faces in the 9th of game one as well as the 9th of game three.
Vandy, who has incredible talent, had given up half way through the last game. You could see it in their faces (remember their right fielder who made the error and just let the ball go by b/c he didn’t care anymore?).
talent will only carry you so far….you have to also have determination and the desire to win. Which is why I’m so proud of this team!
